Saturday, December 23, 2006 - Where has the time gone? 2006 is drawing quickly to a close and Comic Related is well into it's third year on the web (we launched in September of 2004). It's been a lot of fun and the site has really grown, both in visitors [link] and in content, since that time.
Regrettably, I haven't had a lot of time to write over the last few weeks as I've been working furiously on a new version of the site. Fans of the current format won't notice a lot of change when we launch the new version. It's more of an architecture change than a full visual update. Very soon we will step away from a traditional basic html site design and move to a fuller featured template driven XHTML site. We're also stepping away from Microsoft Frontpage and moving to Dreamweaver 8 enjoying the many benefits offered by that powerful new program. This monumental shift has required us to transition every single page of our current site, but in the end it will make future updates to the look and content a real snap.
You will see some new areas spring up with the site update. Working through this change, we've also develop the new "sales" and "media" sections of the site. We're especially excited about the media area as it will organize some of the video and audio content we've posted over the last few years and begin a serious, organized effort to track comic related film, animation and television news. Look for that new area to debut in early 2007.
As with many things in life, I've found that when you jump into a task you often learn there's a lot more to it than you originally planned. That has been the case with this update. We're excited by the changes coming and we think they will serve as just one more reason to bookmark our site, stop by daily (hey, there's ALWAYS new content here) and make Comic Related a regular stop on your comic-fandom-web-surf.
