ComicScout helps fans track their favorite writers and artists!

Comic ScoutSeptember 18th, 2006 - Do you have a favorite author or artist whose work you simply have to have as soon as it comes out? Are you tied of hunting around to see what that individual is working on next? Welcome to ComicScout! A great idea put forward in the form of a solid website.

What does it do? Simply put, ComicScout helps fans track their favorite writers and artists, notifying them when new comics are shipping. It's an automated tool you can tailor to your specific interest.

Site creator Jon Plante of Columbus, OH explains the site...

"Today's comic book fans are following creators more than characters or story lines. ComicScout provides registered users with free weekly listings of books published by the four major publishers - Marvel, DC, Image, and Dark Horse. Every week, users can see which of their favorite creator's books are shipping in their own customized pull list. The site lists more than 1,000 creators to choose from."

As their site goes on to explain explains, ComicScout (which was just recently launched on August 30, 2007) was an idea born out of a decade of frustration as the site's developers struggled to keep track of their favorite talent. Finding themselves reading a dozen different news, publisher, and creator web sites to figure out who was drawing what this month was too much work. ComicScout was created to track your favorite creators so you don't have to.

How does it work? Once you create an account (registration and use of the service is free), you simply surf through the creators section and select the individuals you want to track. Clicking on the box next to their name smoothly adds the creator to your profile. From there, you can enjoy the community their building, sample the gossip rolling around the site and wait for the creator updates to come your way. We like a well executed site and this seems like a solid bet filling a need we didn't even know we had.
