Must Read Stories
Update #11

December 19th, 2007 - My Must Read Stories feature returns for round #11. I took about a month off as content here on the Comic Related site kind of exploded (welcome to all the new creators and companies who now have forums) and I found myself racing just trying to keep up! Today, we return to our weekly look at what we consider not-to-be-missed comic blog reading (or in some cases just plain fun links) from across the web. Our goal is to tie together a solid taste of interesting rumblings you may have missed and boiled them down to 13 topics. So, without further delay, onward to our very latest set of 13...

2007 Ends, A Comic Wrap - Was 2007 a "bad" year for comics? That's a question Sequentially Speaking strives to answer in a recent post [link] comparing industry numbers and linking in a wealth of interesting information. While looking back, let's shift gears and look forward as Occasional Superheroine shares an interesting post [link] speculating on future comic trends.

Digital Battle Lines - The battle lines have been drawn between Marvel, DC and Z-Cult FM. As that was happening, Marvel has rolled out an on-line digital comic subscription service and DC named it's first Zuda webcomic winners. This line of discussion has been the "go to" topic across the blogs for a couple weeks now. Sites with strong stories covering the growing debate include: Bags and Boards [link], Scott Saavedra's Comic Book Haven [link, link and link), The Beat [link] and The Comic Wire [link].

Jeff Smith - Jeff Smith (Bone, Shazam: Monster Society of Evil) is undergoing holiday havoc and gives a full update on his past and future projects in an interview [link] over at Quick Stop Entertainment. I thank the Comics Reporter for pointing us to this one.

Terry Moore - Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise) talks with Adrienne Rappaport over at Sequential Tart sharing a great look back and forward [link] when it comes to his comics. While talking Terry Moore, don't miss the full studio tour [link] over at CBR.

Potter X - The Simpsons do the X-Men [link] while South Park does Harry Potter [link]. Thanks to Blog@Newsarama and ComicMix respectively for the pointers on this little bit of manic mash-up heaven.

Wacky Wizard Shake-Up - There's been quite a bit of talk about Wizard Magazine and the ongoing personnel changes taking place. The rumblings seem to be abating with this recent press release [link]. Lying in the Gutters (down under "How to Run a Website") offers some great perspective on the topic [link] along with The Beat [link & link]. The Comics Reported serving up a great Q&A session with former Wizard online writer Rick Marshall [link] that had Blog@Newsarama [link] and The Beat [link] (among others) talking. As a side note, things also got interesting when Newsarama chimed in claiming that the Wizard website had a virus [link].

The Webcomics Numbers Game - Two articles, one recent [link] and one a little older [link], take an detailed look at the numbers behind today's most popular webcomics.

Comic Forecasting? Gary Reed shares [link] an interesting and insightful take on the current state of the comics market via is blog and his post Comics... Maybe Not Dead?

Project Rooftop - If you are a Wonder Woman fan, you should feel obligated to visit Project Rooftop. You see, a few weeks back they unveiled their Wonder Woman Wardrobe War Winners [link] and the redesigns of the Amazon princess are well worth viewing. While on the topic of Wonder Woman, you might also want to check out The Beat's Wonder Woman reexamined story [link].

Trial of the Modern Age - Blog@Newsarama is reporting [link] that the Superboy/Superman lawsuit has a trial date (May 13). Too bad poor Gordon Lee is still made to wait [link] following his November mistrial.

Dial B for Blog - One of our "never fails to amaze" blog stops certainly didn't disappoint this week. Check out [link] Dial B for Blog's great look back on Golden Age DC house ads for a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Comic for Christmas - Comics 212 makes a good case [link] for stashing comics under the tree this holiday season. Also, Blog@Newsarama puts together a pretty definitive list [link] of wish lists, gift lists and “best of” lists should you find yourself running out of ideas now that less than a week remains.

A Christmas Carol - We'll leave you this week with Ron Fortier's review of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol [link]. Over on his Pulp Fiction Reviews blog, Ron Fortier works his was through many a novel, but his review of A Christmas Carol is just in time for the holiday season and a good read.
