Update #12
Special Holiday Edition

December 24th, 2007 - My Must Read Stories feature returns for round #12 and this time it's all about the holidays! Each week I tie together a solid taste of rumblings you may have missed and boil them down to 13 topics I want to highlight. Today, our not-to-be-missed news and blog reading (or in some cases just plain fun links) gets it's jingle bells in full swing as we go red and green for the day. Without further delay, onward to our very latest set of 13...
Get your gallery on - Newsarama has returned to its roots tossing up an amazing gallery of holiday wishes from comic publishers and professionals. If you pass by their site [link] this page will keep you clicking on cards, recent and past.
All You Need Is Love - Broken Frontier shares a touching send up [link] to the holidays featuring Charlie Brown, the 60's and a certain little Christmas tree.
Christmas from the Flying Fist Ranch - Beau Smith, often know as the "Last Real Man In Comics", serves up a classic holiday romp [link] delivering his latest dose of “tongue-in-your-girlfriend’s–cheek” humor (his words, not ours) summing up the season quite well.
Dial B for Blog - Dial B always seems to find its way into our list of 13 and this week is no different as their recent update [link] takes a look at the true meaning of Christmas with the Legion of Super-Heroes tossed in for fun.
Christmas or Holiday? - Gary Reed ponders the question of Christmas or Holiday in his latest blog post [link]. Quoting Gary, "There seems to be an equal number of fanatics on both sides of the issues and I find the arguments and political correctness not only wearisome and tiring but also divisive."
Have a Venture Christmas - Are you a fan of the Venture Brother's cartoon? There's some sweet holiday goodness linked in Blog@Newsarama [link]. The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend singing Fairytale of New York is destined to be a holiday classic.
Man I wish I were in London - Tomorrow, Dr. Who [link] returns to television with a new Christmas special titled Voyage of the Damned. You can't catch it here in the states and a last minute plane flight across the pond is just too expensive. It'll be Tardus shaped coal in the stocks of many US fans tomorrow. In summary, all I want for Christmas is a short delay until we can see this special in the states.
Yet Another Cover - Yet Another Comics Blog has been posting a Christmas cover a day for the entire month of December. It's a Christmas cover advent calendar [link].
Christmas has a Pulse - Comicon.com's Pulse serves up several fun holiday stories including a graphic debate with Santa Claus [link], Archibald Saves Christmas [link], some great Christmas comics stories from times past [link], a Deadman Christmas [link] and a Hitman Christmas [link]. Oh yea, the Pulse has the spirit!
Gaiman Goodness - Thanks to a pointer [link] from the blog Draw!, we can share a pointer to a nice Christmas present from Neil Gaiman and friends. It's a quick sneaky peek [link] at Caroline, the stop motion animated feature that’s currently in production at LAIKA Entertainment.
Vintage Sandman - Yes friends it's Jack Kirby goodness as the Sandman stars in The Seal Men's War on Santa Claus and Chris's Invincible Super-Blog [link]. Chris shares "it’s time for something that I’ve been planning on covering since December 26th of last year."
Let's not forget Winter Solstice - Boneville.com, the home of Jeff Smith and Bone, has reposted some great pages [link] from winter's past. If you didn't see them when they were first published, this is not to be missed holiday goodness!
End with an image - They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This, my favorite holiday image of 2008, says more than enough to end the column for this week...
