The Related Recap Podcast
Launching to computer speakers near you March 28th, 2008
February 24th - I'm pleased to announce that we will roll out the kickoff episode of our site's new, monthly podcast... The Related Recap ... on March 28th, 2008.
This is virgin territory for me as I've not done a podcast before so I've been learning a lot about the tech side of the operation in a fairly short amount of time. I have a background in radio having served as general manager for a college station and contributed a regular, on air shift for several years back in the 90's. We'll see how it plays out in the podcast arena as it certainly is a different game.
The kickoff episode will be roughly 30 minutes in length though later episodes should clock in around 45 minutes. The show will initially be available through the Comic Related web site. Somewhere between Episode 1 and Episode 2, we have to have the podcast up via ITunes so you can easily subscribe for automatic downloads.
What do we have planned?
Glad you asked! The show will be topical in nature featuring a mix of commentary and interviews. Here's an advance look at the script and general layout we have planned for the new show...

Intro: Catch line/title for the podcast (10 sec)
Music In (15 sec)
Welcome and introduction: URL, brief concept of the website (1 minute)
Overview: Details on the topics for this episode (2 minutes)
Sponsor: 1st plug (if we have one for the show) (2 minutes)
Topic: Brief coverage of big industry events of the past month
Topic: Quick pointer to a great comic site or podcast
Topic: Rants / Raves
Topic: Main discussion topic or interview
Topic: Listener mail
(Total time covering from 1 to 5 topics above ... 22-37 minutes)
Closing comment, contact Info, site location (1 minute)
Sponsor: 2nd plug (if we have one for the show) (1 minute)

Within that general game plan, we probably won't hit all five topic areas on every show. I'm betting we'll touch on three when we don't have an interview. When we do, we'll probably let that interview fill most of the show.
Initially, Related Recap will be a monthly show. I would like to move that to every other week as soon as I get comfortable with the technology and see that the concept has an audience. I'm really looking forward to it as it will be an audio vehicle for the site, it's growing family of creators and the comic industry information.
