Our forums, they are a changing...

Yes friends and neighbors, as the old Bob Dylan song goes, the times they are a-changin'.  In this case, it's our forums that are a-changin'.  We've decided to invest some resources and integrate the forums fully into our site.  To that end, very soon we'll officially unveil a ton of new features and really take this resource to the next level.

 

Even though we may not have succeeded in luring many of you out of the woodwork to post in our initial set of boards, the hit count this area enjoyed showed us that they've developed into one of the hottest resources within Comic Related.  We're really excited to see you stop by, read a few posts and put them to use.

 

We launched the current forums on March 26, 2005 (at 9:52 PM).  Under three months later, here we are ready for a change.  Up to this point we've been working with the good people at Proboards.com.  They allowed us a free home where we could test our plans and develop our concept for the boards.  Now that we feel we know where we're headed, we've partnered with Invision Power Services to relaunch this area offering you a state of the art forum system housed within the comicrelated.com domain.  This change will offer us more control, more dependability, dedicated server space and, most likely, more flexibility than even we have yet to figure out.

 

Goal 1:  First and foremost, we hope the forums develop into the an on-line version of your favorite neighborhood comic store.  A place where you can visit, kick back and enjoy the world of comics in a growing community of friends who gather to share their love of comic collecting in all it's related forms.  We would love to play host to that community and that's kind of the whole point of this website.  The one nice thing about this comic hang-out... here the doors never close...

 

Goal 2:  Our second concept for the forums is a growing collection point for comic news and information.  In our existing news area we post news items as they occur in chronological order.  In the forums, we take many of those stories, share a few related links, post additional content, then group them topically.  This allows you to dig into areas that hold your specific interest.  If, for example, you want to see what's up with the Incredible Hulk, all you need do is visit the Hulk forum and see what's been happing in the world of the green skinned giant.  Neat huh?

 

Okay, if you are still with us, you deserve a bonus.  Here's your chance to watch, behind the scenes, as we begin to relaunch our forums.  They're already partially live at  www.comicrelated.com/forums/.  As soon as we finish moving over the existing content, we'll link it into the rest of the site.  As for the old forums, we'll keep them rolling at comicrelated.proboards30.com until the new area is ready.
