Saturday in Florence

Today was a travel day --->
I didn't make it up quite as early as I would have liked and rushed through a morning of quick site updates (three reviews posted). I hit the highway missing a microphone stand and without directions to Brant Fowler's house. You see Brant was riding up to Comics2Games with me for an interview, some shopping and some fun hanging out. I managed to buy a stand at Radio Shack (left my usual one at the office) and was able to grab Brant by phone. We were off...
Up at Comics2Games, the usual store family was on hand for a meeting that was already in progress. I got to hear the latest about the shops upcoming move, ComicsXP, upcoming publishing plans and so much more. All this and pizza... What more could you ask from a day?
You know, I have some of the best Saturdays sitting around the table in the heart of Blue Line Pro passing time with friends. Today was even better as I got to introduce Brant Fowler and Scott D.M. Simmons to the place and they left amazed by how welcoming and inviting this group is to people. That's what I've been trying to tell everyone... There is something great going on at this store.
Scott and Brant are the creators behind the Wannabez comic series and two better and more creative fellows you would be hard pressed to point me toward. We did a nice long interview which you'll hear in an upcoming podcast then called it an afternoon.
While I was there I spent some time with Darren Muller, Krista Muller and Jackie Hernandez. Darren has been working himself to death over the upcoming Comic Related site relaunch and I don't think I've seen anyone as tired as him in a long, long time. I could see it in his eyes. He's given a lot to this site update and he has my thanks. These three have quickly become a trio I think the world of on a personal level and respect on a professional one. I first met them through their series Ringtale Cafe, but I swear each time I get to spend more time with them, I think of him more and more like a family. I only wish I lived closer as I think our lives would become pretty intertwined as friends. Even given the distance, I'd say that's already the case.
Well, I didn't get as many sites updates posted today as I would have liked (only four) and one column I'm dying to see posted didn't quite make it, but tomorrow is only a few hours away and I get a whole new set of 24 hours to play with. All in all I can't complain. Life is good! Cheers!!
