Sounds great.... Like I said before the drawings for DynaGirl have been really awesome.... Any new art of her new Team members coming up soon?? Well, as a matter of fact, I got something in the mail just today... ![]() That's page one of issue 4, for those keeping track at home. Harold's inking issue 3 right now, and we're coloring issue #1. Issue 2 is in transit so we'll also be coloring that one here very shortly. If we keep up this progress, I'll open the website up for viewing in April. That should put us far enough ahead that we can keep up with the output of the website and stay ahead, as well as get a trade out this year of the first arc. Fun! I just love the look on Zig Zag's face here! It cracks me up like no tomorrow. You'd think as a guy who races around the planet 9 or ten times a second he wouldn't be bothered by a little flying huh? hehe That's another thing I dearly love about these characters. They all seem to have their little...issues. Makes em more human, huh? This post has been edited by Cary: Feb 18 2010, 12:38 PM -------------------- |

I love what he's done with the slight changes in style for this book. He seems a lot more at ease with his character movement and that's paying HUGE dividends in every phase of the game. -------------------- |

Dynagirl stuff looks great, Cary and co. Really impressed with the work you're putting out. I also read the update on Redhanded studios about your new publishing strategy (Webcomic + Trade) for Dynagirl.
Here are a few thoughts/questions/suggestions: - If you're going the webcomic route for Dyna-girl, why not also do the same for Fallen Justice? Since DynaGirl is the follow up to FJ, and FJ is already in the can, running FJ as a webcomic now, while you continue to get more DG finished, could serve to build traffic and interest for DG for a bigger "open" when DG goes live, and increase FJ readership and fans. - I like your approach toward single issues going forward. There's just no margin in them when using POD services for your printer. So letting your stock of FJ run out, while still available at Indy planet, seems like a good one. However, you might still think about always having copies of the FJ #1 and doing a print version of DG #1. The thought here being, #1 issues are the best jumping on points for new readers. There might be plenty of readers willing to give FJ a shot at a con for $4 and pick up the first issue, but might not be so brave to plunk down $20 on the trade. Also, with DG, having an issue #1 serves the same purpose. Build awareness for the new title, and it can direct readers who pick up the first issue to the webcomic online. This is the approach I've been taking with my books. Print up a floppy of the first issue, to sell for a meager return and to promote awareness of the book/build traffic to the website. Run the comic as a webcomic. And then when finished, collect and print the trade. No more printing of issues #2-whatever for me. Anyway, just a few thoughts for you. Always interested in talking strategy for making this indy thing work. -Ty -------------------- |

You know, I honestly hadn't considered the #1 issue aspect until you brought it up. It definitely makes sense, and I may well do that when I'm hitting cons within driving distance simply because I'll have the room to carry extra stock. Thanks for the idea man!
I have considered running Fallen Justice as a webcomic. But there were a couple of things that kept me from doing that. For one, I took subscriptions with this book, and as such I kinda felt like I owed it to the guys who paid out good money without any real idea of what they were getting beyond the stuff they saw on the website. Call me old school but I felt like I owed those guys for their faith, you know? Now that I'm in the print of the final issue, and once I have that out to the guys who subscribed, I may well consider going back and running Fallen Justice as a webcomic just to make sure people can check it out as a backdrop to Dynagirl if they want to. Something to consider anyway. Thanks again Tyler! Always good to hear other opinions on this stuff! Sometimes it feels like you're out on an island you know? -------------------- |

Well it's been a while so I figured I'd toss up some new pictures from the new series! I just got the first half of issue 2 in the mail, and it's already in Lisa's capable hands being colored! woo! I've been getting pages in from issue 4 as you've already seen, but Harold also sent me some new pin ups, and we've got those being colored up as well for reference and such as we go forward. Thought you might like to see.
The Knight! Jack Hughes has enhanced reflexes, can lift a good sized car, and enjoys nothing more than busting criminal heads as he goes about stalking evil wherever he can find it. He's married to Mindfire, and has three kids. ![]() Mindfire! Amanda Hughes is a second generation hero, being the youngest daughter of Shockwave and Ms. Anarchy. She's a high level telekinetic and could easily strip and reassemble a car engine with nothing more than her mind. She's married to Jack Hughes and has three children. ![]() And rounding out the new roster: Waypoint. Tonya Dorne has been best friends with Kerri Masters (Dynagirl) since they were little kids, and is now her room mate. she's a long distance teleporter, able to take people and cargo with her when she teleports, provided she can see where she's going or has been there before. So there you go! These three will be an integral part of the Dynagirl series going forward, forming to core of her new team. There might be other members added later...but we'll cross the bridge when we get to it. Oh! I almost forgot, here's some sketch work from the latest issue featuring our very own heroine, Dynagirl! Did...someone say colors? hehe Just got this in my inbox. Doesn't that just scream "I will beat your ASS!"? lol
I guess if I had to give The Knight a reason for being it's that he gives me an outlet for a number of things in my writing. For one thing I have to have a counter for all the estrogen in the book, cause let's face it, there WAY more chicks than guys, especially early on. Plus he's a smart ass, and I really love dialoging him. Jack's the guy that punches something first and asks questions about a week later if it even occurs to him. He was raised in the 'hit it really hard' school of thought, and pretty much finds a way to apply that in any given situation he runs into. You'll see some fun interplay between he and Waypoint as the series plays along. I wouldn't say Jack has an issue with her sexuality necessarily, and it's not that he's trying to get her into bed, because among other things his wife would skin him alive, but he does get a kick out of messing with her now and again. That COULD come back to haunt him at some point. You never know. ![]() More to come as I crack the whip! This post has been edited by Cary: Feb 27 2010, 10:57 PM -------------------- |

And...here's Waypoint. She's probably the least interested in actually being a hero. She jokes about only being there for the medical insurance. At the same time both a very easy character to write, and yet not, if that makes any sense. It would be pretty easy to wander off into a stereotype with her, but I've taken great pains not to do that, and I think that'll be born out in the series. Tonya will actually cause a pretty huge subplot at some point in the second arc, around issue 12-15 give or take. She's sneaky like that!
The real question is how's she gonna keep that costume clean! ![]() More tomorrow, as they come in. I've got two versions of Mindfire coming in. One as I suggested, and one as Harold suggested. So we'll see which one looks best and go from there. This post has been edited by Cary: Feb 27 2010, 11:15 PM -------------------- |

I was about to be done for the night when I realized I haven't showed you guys the cover to issue 4 yet. I posted page 1 before, but not the cover, so here you go. Issue 4 is part four of a 6 part story called "Reap the Whirlwind" It's about friendship, family, and the lengths people go to, when pushed to the limit, to save the people they love. We'll be introducing all the main characters who'll more or less be the supporting cast, telling Dynagirl's origin, showing at least a bit of the backstory behind a couple of characters you might be familiar with, and wrapping up with Dynagirl in deep trouble. How she gets out of that trouble...will be what follows. I'm planning to start the run in April website willing. Hope you guys enjoy!
