what's everyone's guilty movie pleasures?

I LOVE Footloose! haha.

and I didn't HATE Daredevil...yeah that's right I said it. It wasn't perfect by any stretch of the animation, but I certainly don't hate it as much as everyone seems to lol.

I hate to say it, but 10 Things I Hate About You gets me for whatever reason. Everytime that comes on I have to watch it.

I love all the above mentioned as well. Well, I'm not big on Grease or musicals per se, but the others, sure.

Not big on Grease...or Footloose (I can't believe they're re-making that movie with the kid from High School Musical), but I loved LXG, Daredevil, and Wanted.

I do have a LONG list of movies that I like that most people hate some of the films on the list include...

Ghost Rider
The Post Man
The Chase
Water World
The Spirit
Lady in the Water
The Happening
Mystery Men
Brother Where Are Thou?
Baseket Ball
Face Off
Battlefield Earth
King Arthur
Ned Kelly
The Island of Dr. Monreau (with Brando and Kilmer)
Thunderheart
I Robot
Jersey Girl
The Mothman Propechies
Minority Report
Pearl Harbor
Rock Star
The Scorpion King

I think I'll stop right there.

I actually like the guy too. I thought Jersey Girl was good also.

Speaking of Affleck, I guess anything with him in it, then, would be considered a guilty pleasure.

I really liked Surviving Christmas, Paycheck and Bounce too.

Jersey Girl is a good little movie with a lot to say about one's priorities in life. And Paycheck is a rollicking fun sci-actioner. And I think
Brother Where Art Thou is one of the funniest movies made in the last ten years. Ever time I watch, I bust a gut.

Wow, seeing some of the movies that were mentioned here I have to wonder what a guilty pleasure is to everyone? I can't speak for the rest of you, but for me a guilty pleasure movie is one that is universally bad and was usually considered a disappointment at the box office for one reason or another. Despite all that, it's a movie I will watch whenever I see it on. These are in no particular order either:

Roadhouse-- This is really a horrible movie. The love story is lame, the women aren't all that attractive, and I think many of the scenes that were supposed to be "cool" or "badass" were created by an 8th grade boy on a sugar high! I've never figured out why, but I watch this movie despite knowing better.

Bound-- Goodfellas and lesbians??? Just like thinking grapes and chilli go together, you really need to be drunk to think that this is going to be a thoroughly good movie idea. Unlike my choice above, I know damn well why I watch this movie, and I am "almost" not ashamed about it. My God Jennifer Tilly is hot with the mute button on.

Dead Poets Society--
At one point this might have been my favorite movie ever, but those days were left behind with parachute pants, guess jeans, cassette tapes with WWF wrestlers singing! I don't know how that screenplay won an Oscar. I think I've included this one because so many people considered it a quality film on release, but it hasn't stood the test of time. I feel bad that this movie, despite being so ridiculous, always sort of inspires me to be creative. Maybe so I can fix it??

Red Dawn-- Patrick Swayze returns!! I love the fact that I believe that with only a few hunting trips with my father, my friends and I can hold off Soviet & Cuban forces with only a little extra training from Powers Booth!!

Bubba Ho-tep-- In all honesty, I don't know why this hasn't been done in comic form yet?? It is just sad and silly, but I love watching Bruce Campbell as an elderly Elvis alongside Ossie Davis' JFK! Of course, a mummy wearing spurs and a cowboy hat sure helps!

Running Scared--
This is from 1986 with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines as Chicago Cops!! It doesn't make sense, it should have been laughed out of production, but instead they get Jimmy Smits, Joe Pantoliano, and Dan Hedeya to come on board. I just can't imagine Crystal or Hines being cops in any way. Just don't tell anyone else I like this ok?

I'm sure I could dig out a few more, but I've probably embarassed myself enough for one day.

I just can't consider O' Brother Where Art Thou to be a guilty pleasure. It's a quality movie and no one should feel guily about watching it. I liked it so much that I even bought the soundtrack, which if you've ever heard me talk about music you know how rare of a feat that is!

Silly SF movies from the 50s and 60s. The other night, my wife and I watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians!

John: I love me some musicals as well smile.gif I'd watch an old fred astaire musical any day. Though I don't consider those to be a guilty pleasures. I'm a girl so its allowed wink.gif

Grease I liked as well, though that is one of those movies I watch now that I'm older and cannot believe my parents let me watch it when I was little ha ha I mean I was probably around 6 when I saw that movie for the first time. Man Grease 2 kind of sucked though.

I also liked Jersey Girl and Brant I love 10 Things I Hate About You. One of my favorite teen romance flicks.

As far as my guilty pleasures go I would have to say one of mine would be She's All That. I went through a bit of a Freddie Prinze Jr phase, that is probably the only one of his movies I will still watch. Another one for me would be Deep Blue Sea, I cannot keep myself from watching it whenever I see it on TV. Some of the cg is terribly pathetic, the acting was so so and I don't usually like movies where people get eaten by anything but for some reason I really like that one. lol I can't think of anything else I'm really ashamed that I like, though in all honesty some of the DVDs in my collection might make some of you guys cringe. he he

Jackie on the account at the moment - I can't speak for Darren, but I like a lot of movies that are really... not all that good.

A few on my list (and kudos to anyone who can recognize a few of the more obscure ones)

Newsies - Much maligned, although it has gained something of a cult following, this live action Disney musical about the real life Newsies strike of the late 1800s starred Christian Bale. I hear he's still trying to forget it.

Little Shop of Horrors - Oh horror, another musical. I didn't even know Rick Moranis could sing before I saw this. Although no one could top Audrey II's performance, Steve Martin's dentist song is scarily addictive.

Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure - How many people even know this movie? It was a total box office flop and has yet to ever see a DVD release, but I had it on VHS and watched it all the time.

Treasure Planet - For all the slamming this movie took by critics and fans, watching it again after the fact - I really enjoy the characterization and the animation is beautiful. It's not the best Disney ever, it's true, but as long as you're not expecting Aladdin or The Lion King, it's still a pretty darn good movie.

The Twelve Tasks of Asterix - When I got this movie, way back in the day, I never even knew it was from Europe and dubbed into English. I'd still love to find a copy of it today.

Arthur - The version played by Dudley Moore, not the cartoon aardvark. What can I say? It was about a drunken millionaire playboy, and not the kind with high tech gadgets fighting crime. In hindsight it's not very exciting, but I did love the theme song - "Best that you can do" by Christopher Cross.

Dragonheart - Okay, so the effects weren't up to todays standards and the story was fairly predictable and a little cheezy. It still had Sean Connery as a friggin' dragon! I mean... Sean Connery as a dragon is just made of win!

Cats Don't Dance - Another flop in the theatres, this animated movie by Turner Entertainment was actually quite amusing - of course not many people were interested in a movie set in the era right after silent films went the way of the dodo and featuring a villain who was a Shirley Temple knockoff.
