Some of you already know this, for others....the cat is officially out of the bag and spraying on the stereo speakers.

An announcement from Mr. Tony Miello over on his Gapo the Clown website posted May 26th.

5/26/08

I'm back... I think.

Sorry for the missed update again. Last week I was sick as a dog. That kind of sick where you can't move, but you can't hold still. It was miserable. It most likely was an extreme case of Con Crude. Anyway, this story line is getting ready to wrap up. Next month there will be some guest strips by my buddy Bill Gladman. I will be working on some other Gapo related projects and need to take a brake from the strip for a while. I think you're going to like what's on the horizon.

As Tony said in the announcement, I have stepped in to keep the misadventures of everybody's favorite non-kid loving clown rolling as Tony takes a well deserved vacation.

I just hope there's not a Cleveland Steam Roller involved in said vacation.

I have written 8 Gapo the Clown strips and submitted two finished strips including the artwork and all the bells and whistles. They should be going up on the Gapo the Clown website very soon.

I plan to turn in another four strips early next week and the week after that finish off with the last two.

Here is a sneak peek at the art.

While working on these I discovered a few things.

One being a new found respect for how effortlessly Tony seems to be able to put these things together. I tried my best to mimic his artwork, and fell short by a good mile and a half, but I think he still liked it and I hope you do as well.

Actually I have a new found respect for anybody working on a webcomic. These things ain't no joke. There's a LOT of work that goes into these things to make them deliver the way they are supposed to. Man, to think there are people out there doing them weekly, sometimes daily.

That's freakin' AMAZING!!!!

Finally the last thing I discovered was this. I have always been a huge Gapo the Clown fan since I discovered the strip last March at S.P.A.C.E. 2008.....but I really, really, REALLY loved writing this guy. So much so while I was working on the art for the first two strips I couldn't help write another thirteen.

I sent Tony the scripts and he loved them. I believe he plans to use a great deal of them in a "special project" he hinted at in his post as well.

To think that there just may be Gapo the Clown strips out there someday written by me and illustrated by Tony...the man who created the character.....just blows my mind.

Wow.

Thanks Tony, for letting me be a part of all this!!

You Rock!!!!!!

My first Gapo the Clown fill in strip went live today. You can check it out here.

http://www.gapotheclown.com/

I wasn't real thrilled at the text I used. Kinda hard to read....fortunately I changed the text style in future strips....unfortunately not until strip #3. (and dang it there is a typo in the last panel....totally my fault not Tony's !)

Anyway I hope you enjoy them and hope Tony enjoys his long awaited and much deserved vacation!
