You just can't a good old fashion hero down too long. Now, over twenty-years since I penned my last Green Hornet comic adventure, the green clad hero and his martial-arts side-kick Kato, are returning to the front and in more ways then one. First Dynamite ranted and raved about the new comic series, with Kevin Smith and Alex Ross on board...and featuring
another female Kato. Too cool. Then along comes Moonstone and announces a series of prose anthologies. Which is where I came back into the picture, having been asked to write
a new story for that first anthology. It's called THE EYES OF THE MADONNA and pits GH & Kato against both mobsters and Soviet spies. Remember, these are the 1960s, amigos.
Writing the tale and getting reacquainted with characters that were so much a part of my burgeoning career as a comic writer was a real trip down memory lane. As most of you have seen by this week's Moonstone Press Release, the marketing has begun. Volume One of the Green Hornet Chronicles will be out in June.
I don't know about you, but me, I can't wait.
BZZZZZZZZ!

I'm looking forward to it, Ron. You were the writer who introduced me to the Green Hornet (I hope that doesn't make you feel old!), so I'm glad to see you back on the character. I remember picking up an issue of the Hornet comic in the mall's bookstore when i was a kid and being impressed by how different it was from most of the junk Marvel and DC were putting out at the time. I never expected to be working for the writer of that comic twenty years later.

Life is indeed strange in so many wonderful ways, isn't it, Aaron. Writing that series was so much fun and looking back on it all these years later, it still holds up fairly well. I'm just thrilled that you and so many other people remember it with such great fondness. Thank you.

Thanks, Glen. Hopefully my story will live up to these expectations. mellow.gif It was a challenge in its own way, being the first prose GH tale I've ever done. Again, fingers crossed you'll like it.

As I've not found a suitable topic to post here for a few days, I thought I'd just mop around and state the obvious. Still no call from Dynamite Comics mellow.gif Oh well. Sigh.
In the meanwhile, looking to the end of 2009 and hoping 2010 is going to be a whole lot better.

Still writing the new sci-fi webstrip and have started writing the new comic top-secret comic strip I'm doing with Chris Metzer for Wild Wolf Entertainment. Only done a few pages,
but that's been enough to revitalize the old creative juices. This is a story I've been wanting to do for a long time. Well...at least since 2003. There's a clue in there regarding the theme, but I won't say any more now. Put on your Sherlock Holmes caps and see if you can figure it what Ron's new comic series is all about.

Sounds like you have way more rewarding stuff going on than waiting around for some third party to get a clue. You've already made an indelible imprint on the history of the Green Hornet...that's never going to fade away.

Thanks for the kind words, Mark. Coming from a colleague whose own work I admire a great deal, that means a lot. Much appreciated. And let me add, I'm totally psyched
that we are both going to be featured in Moonstone's # 1 GH Anthology. I was thrilled when I learned over on FB that your stories was in the mix. Now that's going to be an awesome collection.

I would seem that you have quite a bit going for you in 2010 Ron, and I wouldn't worry about a call from Dynamite Comics at the moment.
I like what Moonstone have been doing, I would be willing to say they are better than Marvel at this point. I hope to be able to get a copy of the Anthology when it's released. Congratulations to the both of you.

Yeah, there's a lot of talent in that Green Hornet anthology...mine is the first short story I've written in years and years. The last one I wrote was for the short-lived Night Cry digest, which was a sister publication of the late and lamented Twilight Zone magazine...that had to have been 1986.

Hey, Tim, thanks for adding the link here. Appreciate that. Considering how fast they put this up, it looks like Moonstone really thinks this is going to be big. And I couldn't agree more.

No problem with posting the link. I'm wondering if they'll add an image or two to help increase those Pre-Orders.

They should, Tim, as they already have the covers set to go. There will be two, one by my pal Ruben Procopio and the other by Hard Case Crime's own Glen Orbik. Both are gorgeous and would certainly help get pre-orders rolling.

Moonstone's editor sent my story back for some minor edits this morning, along with a very nice letter of approval. He liked the story a great deal. Always nice to hear from your editor. biggrin.gif He asked me to have the edits made within the next two weeks. Ha. I had them done two hours later. No moss is growing on this boy's feet. Keeping editor's happy should be every writer's sacred oath.

Hard to tell from this what the new movie will be like...but at least they got the colors right.

Indeed, Mark, I've seen those before, plus a few others that came from that day's shooting. The only troublesome spot is it is broad daylight. Clearly not the Hornet's milieu,
as he is very much a creature of the night streets, where he can hide in the darkness of side streets and alleyways. Honestly, there is nothing about this projection that has excited me in the slightest. And I've no expectations anything further from it will.
