Ok I mentioned in the past that I would try to rip and post my coloring and digital inking tutorial cd's done by the guy who colored Danger Girl and Spawn. Well good news I found the inking cd and now have to try and remember who I loaned the coloring cd's to. When I get them I will try and get the up on the net for your use. Take care.

Brian Haberlin's the guy. He is very talented. I want to buy two of the coloring tutorials, but $70 is a bit much for two dvds. He now is not only in charge of his own studio, but is editor in cheif of Tod McFarlane comics... all of them not just Spawn.

I don't know how he does it.

Jay, if you will, which ones are you planning to rip? I'm actually going to pester my wife for one or more of these CDs for my birthday and for Father's day this month!
The beginning Coloring CD and the "Spawn style" CD have piqued my interest, so I might just ask her to order them. Actually, eventually, I'd like to purchase all of them. This is just more to add to my reference library.

Jay, stupid me, I didn't realize that I could purchase a 4 disk set from the BLP store for 89.99. I'd say that's a bargain! I think I'll get my wife to get 'em for me!! At the moment, that'll be more use to me than a new HO scale engine!

I am considering purchasing the "Spawn style" CD, that or the Danger Girl one. I enjoy coloring more than any other medium related to comic creation.
Writing comes close second.

The problem is that the previews really don't show much.
Nothing that I don't already know. So I hope the full cd is
worth the price.

Since the 4 CD set comes with the Beginning Coloring,How To Paint Monsters and Creatures, How To Paint Super Babes, and Creating Backgrounds, Scenes and Skies, I may as well pick it up. Basics? Well, I never took PS classes, and any instruction while watching someone use and explain the program is extremely important for me. This is just like when I began to use the airbrush, If I paid 29.00 to watch someone paint on a videotape, it really, really helped me a lot. So, I need to pick up as much as I possibly can. I figure it's an investment, and hopefully it'll pay back someday.

Out of all of those the Painting superbabes one has more techniques included (based on the previews).

Well, for the time being, you may want to go over to YOUTUBE and type in DIGITAL COMIC BOOK COLORING and see what there is to see. I like watching other people work. There's a couple of Jim Lee drawing demo's over there, with Stan Lee making his cheesy comments.

More than likely I may end up getting the spawn one, but I also want the Danger Girl one as well, if anything just for the lineart.

Mine are in. Sad thing is I won't have time to view them until my next day off work, which could be a long while.

Yeah, pain in the neck, isn't it? I still have to finish my Adobe books and a bunch of Andrew Loomis books that I downloaded, and now I'm going to have these comic creation CD's to go through... this is about a years worth of tutorials... like college with no structure.

The biggest comment I EVER hear about my work is 'this is really good but can you do color?'

I got the grayscale painting one and REALLY enjoy coloring my graphite and charcoal work. (though I still suck at it!)
I'd eventually like to get into doing cover work and I can't paint but my grayscale work is top notch and I'm hoping that, once I learn to color it, I can land work with the big boys

I liked the colors you did on the mermaid entry. I think you could work for the big boy companies now doing pencils! you sent any samples recently?

Thanks.

No I haven't sent any pencilling samoles to the comic companies reciently, but I do work on a regular basis doing B&W work for RPG companies.
I'm about to start work on a regular webcomic and I'm hoping that, after about a year on a regular schedule, my work will be polished enough to apply to the big boys.

We'll see.

Good luck on the web comic!! Rpg's, so that's what you drew that cool dragon and fantasy characters for. Well you got alot of talent there Erik, I would have really liked to have seen what you could have done on the Dragon Slayer contest!!
