Here is the link to the promotional video for THE JUSTICE MACHINE: OBJECT OF POWER 100 page graphic novel, with work by David Enebral, Ivan Barriga, Jason Jensen and Kirsty Swan and a cover by Jeff Slemons.

Like the Cryptozoica trailer I posted in the New Pulp forum, Melissa created this one, too. This video will the centerpiece of the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. The book itself is complete except for lettering and just putting it together.

Since I posted that about Kickstarter, another publisher has expressed interest in the property, so I put the Kickstarter campaign on hold. However, I'm definitely not holding my breath.

Little rant here--

Although there aren't as many as there used to be, there are still self-styled publishers floating around in the debris of this field who come to creators and want to nail down the rights to their intellectual properties in exchange for...for...

Well, in exchange for what amounts to nothing.

They're not capitalized, they have no real system of distribution other than the Diamond retail shop trap and their idea of marketing and promotion is the same as if the creator did it himself.

But these self-styled publishers expect the creator to sign an agreement giving them a significant chunk of profit--if there is any to be had.

Here's a rule of thumb--if you're a creator and a publisher comes to you with a deal that is substantially no different than what you can do yourself, it's probably best just to go ahead and do it yourself.

Stick to your guns sir. I have read way too many 'If only I had not let them...' stories from creators and IP holders. You are probably a more patient and balanced man than I because if it were me I would tell the latest publisher inquiring about JM "Look, here is what is NOT negotiable: (percentages, creative rights etc.). Now if you want to negotiate, having accepted my previous criteria, then let's talk. otherwise leave me alone so I can get my Kickstarter going.".

It's not so much that--which is definitely part of it--as actually having the capacity to offer something I can't do...not something I could do but would rather not, but can't.

That's my criteria.
