These are two of the main characters from another concept of mine called "Paragons". There actually is an artist attached to this one that is much better than I. These two pieces were just character sketches as I generally design most of my characters in all my projects, or at least their initial looks, with few exceptions.

I did the pencils for these. I can't remember who inked them (some girl, maybe named Roxanne), but the colors were done by Chase Grund.

First up is the star of the book, my Superman-ish character, Sway:

And my speedster, naturally, Hyper-Drive:

I must admit, I stole HD's pose from an Ultimate X-Men shot of Cyclops. I didn't trace though. smile.gif

I think that is SWEET! HD is a cool name for a character, nice reference to Star Wars...

Nice concepts. I really like the character poses and colors as well.

Reminds me of Bill Black (he of AC Comics down in Florida) has a character called Captain Paragon, if I'm not mistaken. Don't often see that word used, so it raised a flag for me. His character, I believe was sci-fi based, ala Superman, from another planet. But it was a long time ago and I could be all wet. Ha.

Thanks, Kevin!

Ron, I know of Bill Black. In fact, I lettered 7 pages of a Femforce issue last year for AC and got to meet some of them (not Bill) in Chicago.

Well, originally it was to be called Paladins, but then Platinum at the time was coming out with a book by that name, so I changed it to Paragons. It may have to change again by the time it's actually ready to be published. smile.gif Actually, there is a character named Paragon in it as well who's so cocky he takes on the name of the team. smile.gif

Oh.....like a band named after somebody in the band....like Van Halen or Dokken. There was actually a hard rock band in the town I live...back in the 80's that called themselve Paragon. I always liked that name.

Love the art work here. Your pencils with (Roxanne's ?) inks look very good together. Sway and Hyper-Drive....along with Paragon...are all very cool names.

Are you doing with this characters or are they just a part of your past now?

Oh, I'm definitely still going to do something with them. The cool thing about this particular project, when it comes to fruition, is it will see many of the characters I created way back when revamped. Some will appear briefly while others will stick around. There will be characters in this one that will go on to play larger roles in other books if I ever get that far.

The artist I have on this, provided he ever finds the time to work on it, is amazing, and his rendition of Sway is very powerful. When this starts going again I'll show some of his stuff off. Sean Forney was once attached to this as well, but it didn't work out.

Oh, and I should mention I have a co-writer on this in David Brashear. The concept I came up with was a little big for me, and David and I had worked on some stuff together that never saw the light of day. So we got to talking about this and fleshed out a whole bunch of stuff. Whether he's still eager to be involved is unknown as I haven't talked to him in a long while now though.
