This one was tough!! Overall, this was a great effort from everyone, and Mark, stop beating yourself up about your entry. I think it has a great deal of atmosphere, and you cut back on detail where it was reasonable. I think for the details available on this creature, you either went for Giger's original design or go off on where the other films went, for overall functionality of the creature design. Kevin, Steve, Josh, Cary, Jeff, and Dan, you all did great. Steve, I voted for yours because you managed to get depth in the illustration with your use of color, without having to go absolutely nuts with the background. Personally, I learned a lot about the real advantage of using spotted black to make it LOOK as if I spent more time than I did with the background. I still had problems with my positioning of the legs and feet on the creature.

Vote and critique away, everyone!!

As a shameless plug, I need to raise some quick cash, so anyone interested in mine, it IS on sale in my ebay store until March 22nd! The link is HERE: Captivetiger on Ebay I hope that this doesn't break any rules!! Hey put down that tomato! biggrin.gif

This was a lot of fun, and the Aliens look incredible guys! I went with Kevin's primarily because it's so up close and scary looking. I think his use of the red background was a pretty inspired choice as well, but it was a hard call for sure! I'm just glad we didn't have to include the Predator in there because I'd have never made that! I was going to use the helmet instead of the human skull, but in the end I couldn't get it to look right and just went with the basic skull. Good luck guys!

By the way, does anyone have any ideas for the next one? There IS a new Predator movie coming up, and no one in this group has illustrated a PREDALIEN yet, have they? Or, how about WAR MACHINE?

What about 'Alice in Wonderland' or 'Clash Of The Titans'? The remake is coming out soon. I still remember seeing the original COTT at the theater with my Mom. Now that is a CLASSIC Movie!!!

I'm game for anything! But like the Clash of the Titans idea, Alice in Wonderland just sounds naughty wub.gif

Any of those ideas sound good actually. Not sure what I'd do from any of them, but I'm sure I could find something to play with. You guys have a much harder time of it than I do for sure!

How about War Machine for the next Monthly contest and COTT for the weekly challenge? We could theme a months weekly challenges for COTT. It might make posting or keeping up with them easy. And yeah, I remember seeing the original COTT in the theater, with the state of the art laser light show behind Zeus and Harryhausen's classic effects. I'm still dying to see the CGI Pegasus flying around the tentacles of the Kraken. As for Alice in Wonderland, believe it or not, I just saw some clips of a cheesy old 70's porn version on TMZ a couple of nights back.

Gotta roll with Anthony on this one. Although they're all strong, I really dig the vertigo effect.
