Hello, everyone,

I wanted to run a column idea past the readership - I wouldn't write this until later on this year (I have topics until September), but thought it might be good to "take the temperature".

Recently, I was watching Doctor Who, and the issue of "spoilers" (or foreknowledge of the future) came up. My thinking, in terms of a topic for the column, is:

"The Ethics of Spoilers" which would consist mainly of discussing:
  • the ethics of "spoiling" - revealing plot points too early
  • some historical discussion of spoilers (like the infamous STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF KHAN debacle)
  • can/should spoilers be used to deter people from seeing bad movies?
  • sites may spoil, like Ain't It Cool News; and
  • how this affects comic related movies (for example, the infamous "hidden scene" at the end of X-MEN 3

If there isn't a lot of feedback, or it's perceived as too academic, that's cool - I always have it to use on the blog. I'm always looking to meet the needs of the readership...and so, I'm putting it out there.

Thanks for your feedback,
Gordon
