damn you fred! the bounce lighting on the tentacle wrapping your face pisses me off it's so well placed. I could go on and on about that FB cover painting. The Ewok thing is tight, obviously, but sonuvab---- that self-portrait is crucial!

Thanks, Brian! I had SO much fun with the tentacle. Channeling a little Serge Biralt, maybe--but my tentacles aren't nearly as candy-like as his are, I guess. *haha*

This is my first attempt at painting the human figure. In the past, I've always just drawn the lines then handed it off to a colorist hoping he / she could add some volume to the work.

This is a good start. Hope you like him.

This is Ray Height's MIDNIGHT TIGER. Obviously, MIDNIGHT TIGER is totally owned by Ray Height, and I painted him with permission. The character's book is currently being evaluated by Image Comics, so fingers crossed for my buddy Ray....!

Sorry if this is a stupid question Fred, but conversion to, or from? And from what to what if that's not too much.

Hey, Greg!

I'm converting the entire Skyrealms of Jorune RPG from the '80s to the new RuneQuest 6 ruleset. My collaborator, Ian Kaufman, is doing most of the heavy lifting on the rules conversion, and I'm doing all the art and design for the book as well as playtesting, rules help, etc.

It's a labor of love right now, but we have dreams of getting licenses for RQ6 as well as permission from the original Jorune creator to re-release his world under this new ruleset completely illustrated by me.

Fingers crossed--nobody has indicated anything yet, but I hope to have a solid pitch ready in six months to a year to at least show the progres we're making.

Fred, I hope everything works out on this. You are a huge talent. People need to pay you lots of cash and invest in your brain/hands.

Thanks Fred!

Sounds like a dream project. Good luck.

RPG books always seemed like a fun way to just run wild and provide fun and cool illustrations.

Hey! I'm featured in the newest e-newsletter from Chris Oatley, Disney Character designer and my instructor for the online course, "Painting Drama" at the Oatley Academy!

How cool is that--I'm folded into a nice article on how not to let PERFECTIONISM ruin your art experience.

Go read!

That is some really cool article, there Fred.

Congrats also for some wicked cool promotion too. I love how they chose the Ewoks image for the article. I think it fit with his description of you from the article, but also showcases your strong skills.
