Who are the Three Wise Men, you ask? They are three disc golfers who think they know everything about everything and these three mental giants come up with an idea to take a road trip to Redbank New Jersey to check out Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash comic book store. The Three Wise(and we use that term very loosely) Men in question are......

Jarrod Slavin: Self proclaimed "Dark Horse" of the disc golf world. Loyal servant to the House of 'El, keeper of all Star Wars knowledge, and disciple to the one true God of this realm of existence......Kevin Smith.

Brent Gladden: "Cool" comic book geek, retiring local rock musician, psuedo- vegetarian, and a Captain America WANNA BE. And no way , shape, or form related to Ted Nugent

Chad Messner: Best comic book artist in town.....but never draws. Has the most expensive comic book collection in town..but never reads it. Has every video game system ever created..but never plays video games. Constantly talikng about sex...but he's still a VIRGIN.........well you get the picture.

And all three of these guys are characters in a movie script I have been writing on and off for the better part of two years. (I started it late December 2007).

It has a very heavy "Kevin Smith" feel to it (Especially Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy,Clerks II....and I guess it actually treads some of the same territory of Zack and Miri Make A Porno).




I always envisioned shooting the movie on a shoe-string budget (much like Clerks) in around some of the local locations that appear in the script. (Bookery Fantasy, Super Fly Comics and Games, Wittenberrg, Buck Creek, Antioch, Kettering,and Belmont Disc Golf courses, Club Panama ...a local bar that features local hard rock bands, Giovanni's Restruant, Springfield High School and Fearless Readers Comics).

While still at the Zonetrooper site Joe ran a new installment (usually a scene or two) each month and the first nine installments of the script can still be read over at that site. www.zonetrooper.com

I intend to submit the last three installments to Zonetrooper some time before the end of December 2008.

The script has also inspired a Three Wise Men mini-comic...issue #1 of which is finished and a preview of the book went over real well at this year's Gem City Comic Con in Dayton Ohio. The book will be available at S.P.A.C.E. Con 2009 this coming April (just a measly 12 months later!)

Recently I ran into a couple of guys I think would be perfect for the roles of Jarrod and Brent and I will be talking to the two of them Thursday evening about possibly filling those roles and starting production.

These two guys...Tony Barry and Thad Cleveland own and operate the Super Fly Comics and Games store in Yellow Springs Ohio. I stopped by the shop Saturday on my Machine Man hunt and spoke to Thad a little....at which time he mentioned that he and Tony had recorded some short Comic Related video stuff which was already on youtube.

After I checked one particular piece...I knew these two guys were a must have. I'll let you know how things go Thursday evening.

That's two of the three....and germ from Tiki Samurai fame has shown interest in playing Chad. I will be setting up his audition within the next few weeks.
