Plan to listen to the "All Avengers" episode today when I pack up the office. Can't think of a better way to spend the time as I "officially" close what has been my home of creativity....and my postage stamp sized man-cave for the last 11 years than listening to three good friends talk about ...my favorite comic book film ever.
If not my favorite film ever. I'll miss you guys. Things are going to start to get shut off here, internet goes Tuesday the 29th....and is expected to be back on at the new place around June 16th. As for when life gets back to normal....maybe late August? But...actually looking forward to the changes that come with this in many ways. -------------------- "Reality is only for those who lack imagination" don't know who first said that....but it works for me!

Bill, as you know, I feel you, man. And it'll be four good friends as John joined us for the discussion.
We will certainly miss you as well, Bill, and I'll miss having you on the Fringe episode in a couple of weeks. But I hope you enjoy this episode. Listen to the end if you can, there's a "cut scene" during the credits I think you'll appreciate. Good tidings, my friend. -------------------- |

Bill, without know the details, I'm here wishing you all the luck in the world with whatever changes you and your family have been forced to endure. And praying too, pal. Remember, it was only a year and a half ago that Valerie and I sold our home of 27 years, and left the town both of us had been born in, raised in and spent most of our lives in, to move half way across the country to a new place...and a new life.
We had hopes and fears. That's what change always offers up. A year and a half later and both of us are so freakin' happy we can't say it enough times. No matter the reasons, that move has proven to be the best thing that ever happened to us for so many reasons and we never saw that coming. That's what I pray for you and Ellie. No matter the reason God has closed one door on you, it is my prayer the new one he's going to open up is going to be amazing!!!! You hang in there, amigo. |

Bill
Having been there, done that....I wish I had more to say, but quite frankly, Brant and Ron said so much, anything I would add would be tantamount to plagiarism. Best wishes, pal. See you on the other side. Gordon -------------------- Tipping Sacred Cows since 2004 at http://www.blogthispal.com

Well. This may be the last post I make here on CR for a while so I'm going out with a bang. Not finished packing up the office yet, but just finished listening to Zone 4 # 166.....great show. Loved it.
Loved the Avengers breakdown and can't resist chiming in with some thoughts of my own. #1-I "believe" the only reference of Scarlet Witch playing the cello appears in Avengers #234 "Season Of The Witch" written by Roger Stern....a re-telling of the personal history of Wanda Maximoff. This is a really obscure reference (she's seen in flashback playing the instrument as a gypsy child) to be brought up on the big screen, but it seems to have been delibeately placed into the movie dialog for a specific reason. #2-The actor that plays Agent Coulson is signed to do six more films. (Ahem-Vision-S.H.I.E.L.D medics attmpted to save him even "after" his death and only managed to save his brain waves. Pym will be called in on this ongoing project to perhaps down load these brain waves into the body of Professor Horton's Synthetic Man ( Original Human Torch seen in the Captain America film and I'm sure Fury now has stashed away somewhere.) Ruaffalo of course is signed to six films....I think a Hulk film can work with him in the lead role....and John is right....use the LEADER and the U-Foes....the U-Foes attempted to copy the accident that created the FF.....Marvel just got the movie rights for the FF back and is going to be working FF elements in these films like crazy. #3-I feel Coulson's "death" was very necessary to unify the squabbling Avengers. #4 Look for a deleted scene with the dvd release where Steve visits or attempts to visit a still living Peggy Carter (who would be in her 90's)....rumors are they filmed this but thought it made the movie too long and was afraid it would confuse people who did not see the Cap film. You can "almost" see where it was taken out where Fury is talking to Steve during the punching bag scene....Fury almost seems to imply he knows Steve has "snuck out" at least once before. #5 Best actor in the film is HANDS DOWN....the guy that played Loki. #6-Got to agree that some of the "worst parts" of a near flawless film was Scarjo as Black Widow...much better than what we got in Iron Man 2.....but still no accent? And as my daughter likes to point out...she did knock out a Russian agent with just her hair in a scene that was improperly edited. #7-Thanos will next appear in Thor-remember the Mad Titan is a master schemer....Surtur attacks Asgard during the Trial of Loki....Loki "dies"....we learn in a cameo that Thanos used Surtur as a diversion to steal the Cosmic Cube.....and the Infinity Gauntlet (seen in the first Thor film). Please recall these words from The Other in the Avengers film "If you fail to deliver the cube to us be warned, there is NO WORLD , there is NO REALM, that will hide you from MY MASTER". He also says "You humans have no idea how to properly use the Tesseract, only MY MASTER knows how to use it properly." Remember the Cosmic Cube can alter reality in the comics....opens a lot of doors. Thanos knows this power can only be un-locked by using the cube and the Gauntlet....together. wouldn't surprise me if Loki's defeat by the Avengers and him being taken back to Asgard was all "part of the plan....to court Death" #7-B- (Skrulls are a major FF element and Thanos has used several Skrulls as lackeys in the past, including the Super-Skrull) #8-How do you do a movie with Thanos with no Captain Marvel? Do we have time to develop this character in the Marvel films before Avengers 2? Will Thanos appear in a Captain Marvel film...and not Avengers 2? The Avengers were only guest stars in the Thanos /Captain Marvel/Cosmic Cube Saga...which ran in the Captain Marvel books. The Thing also appears in that story....Marvel now has the rights to the Fantastic Four back.....including the Silver Surfer...which I suppose you could use instead of Captain Marvel. But one of the characters in the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY IS CAPTAIN MARVEL'S DAUGHTER. #9-Cap's line to Stark about losing a soldier was directly a refernce to Bucky's "death" in the Cap film. I like Ron's suggestion of a S.H.E.I.L.D./Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow film that un-covers the Winter Solidier Project and leads into Cap 2 #10-About Cap 2....did anybody notice a mercenary working with Loki that had a tattoo of a Skull and "Crossbones" on his arm. Is this Crossbones from the Cap books? Does this mean we see The Red Skull's daughter "Sin" in the next Cap film? Out for vengeance against the man that killed her father in WWII? A morphed version of the Baron Zemo story? #11-Hawkeye tells Eric S.H.I.E.L.D has no shortage of enemies, you just have to know where to find them. Let's see...that would include Hydra, A.I.M. and....The Ten Rings....which leads into Iron Man 3. #12-And am I only person alive who still thinks an Invaders movie is possible? Let's see an untold story from WWII featuring Captain America (check), The original Human Torch ( a good way to lead into the modern version of the character soon to be appearing in a new Marvel owned FF film franchise and can throw more hints about the origin of the Vision...same actor that played Agent Coulson could play this character), Bucky (the guy is signed for six films), and Namor (did I mention Marvel now has the FF rights back now?) That's it. The G-Man has left the building. Well....I'm still packing. Damn, wish we could have had you on the show as well, Bill. There is obviously no end to the possibilities now that Marvel has unleashed the Avengers as we loved them in the comics. The Marvel Universe is now wide open and the only limit these movie folks have is their imagination, and as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby proved years ago...that is truly limitless.

Oh yeah!
Forgot to mention the hilt of the "Twilight Sword", the very weapon that Surtur has used to try and destroy Asgard in more than one past attempt is hidden in plain view in the Thor film. It's the back portion of Odin's throne. I would have loved to have been on the show...but things being what they are...just glad i got a chance to listen to it. -------------------- "Reality is only for those who lack imagination" don't know who first said that....but it works for me!
