The following are smoke induced comments from a person who likes to make smoke induced comments but said comments are still of merit although perhaps....fuzzy. May contain language not suited for all ages.

A friend I've known for some time now (like since high school) wanted to do a forum post from time to time going over certain things of interest such as music releases, concerts, movies, and football. He just didn't have a place to share his chemical saturated thoughts. I mentioned I could post them here...and he thought that was a pretty cool idea.

He went on to add that after his review, I could add comments of my own...which I will. So...I give you....

"Tha Stoner Review"

On 10/28/09 I went to The Newport in Columbus,Ohio (cool venue except NO SMOKING, I need to make some brownies or cookies next time to take in) to see Queensryche. I went with one of my best bud's (he doesn't smoke, "girly man) Rick L. and my wife, who doesn't smoke either, so tha smoke was all mine, cool fucking show already!!!

Queensryche did 3 suites of music from their "Rage 4 Order" "American Solider" and "Empire" album's. They sounded awsome!!!! Geoff's voice was great in most ranges, you can tell he's getting older, not as much high end stuff, but overall he's still better than 98% of the people who call themselves vocalist! The band was loud and very, very tight as usual. Scott's drum's were unreal, bass drum felt like it was punching you.

I was a little disappointed they didn't do anything from "The Warning" CD. That is my favorite. They were still worth $25, hands down! Hold on just burnt my lip. Sorry bout that.

There were a couple of really cool moment's. In between Rage 4 Order and American Solider they brought out Tha Goddess of Metal herself "Lita Ford" she did three song's off her new album "Wicked Wonderland" 2 song's with her man Jim Gilette (former front man for 80's Glam Metal Band "Nitro") you wouldn't know who he was to save your life. He's over 200lbs. covered in Tat's and gotta Mohawk 2ft high. It was pretty good shit and Lita still look's and jam's as good as ever. She did "Close My Eyes" the song she did with OZZY. But she did it with Geoff Tate, really, really good. No kiddin, that was worth the ticket.

But the coolest moment came when Queensryche did the song "Home Again" off of the American Solider album and Geoff Tate's daughter came out and sang her part in the song live. Simply a beautiful thing to see. REAL DEAL. Great Show, Highly Recommend!!!

Get it? Highly. Man I'm funny as shit!
The Stoner has spoken.

Tha Non-Stoner Additional Commentary

Originally Rick. L. and I was going to this show along with Tha Stoner....but the show date fell on the 15th anniversary of the very first date with my wife.....yeah....we have two annivesary's each year. Money has been tight so I had a decision to make (it wasn't very hard......unless I was gonna live in Tha Stoner's garage) and I told Rick I was not going to make the show several weeks ago.

That was before I knew Lita Ford was going to be there. That may have been worth living in a garage for a few weeks...hopefully just a few weeks.

Long story, short. I didn't make the show. Actually I don't make many shows anymore...one of the things I have given up over the years. The last show I did see was an Ace Frehley show I saw with Ths Stoner at Bogart's down in Cincy. Great show but quite possibly my last. That's another reason Tha Stoner and I wanted to do this, at least we could still do something together.

I can say this.....love the albulm Rage For Order. Wrote a story (graphic novel) which conneects all the song titles on the c.d and makes a story. A story I heard every time I listened to the c.d. The book is currently being illustrated by Kevin Hicks.
No release date at this moment.

Asking me to pick which albulm I like better between Rage For Order and The Warning is like asking me to choose between water and air. In the long run I think I can last a little longer without water than I could without air...so I would take the Warning. The music has more of a rough edge to it as the stuff on Rage at times is a little polished.

Check out a couple tracks for yourself.

Take Hold of the Flame from the Warning.

And Walk in Shadows from Rage For Order

I loved the science fiction feel early Queensryche stuff had , up until the Empire album.

American Soldier is the best Queensryche release in over a decade.....an incredible tribute to soldiers fighting a war half a world away that nobody believes in, and laying their lives on the line everyday.....so we can Take Hold of the Flame on a daily basis.

Here's a video clip of the song Home Again with Geoff and his daughter that was mentioned in the review.

Enjoy.

Wow...looking at this review today it looks like i must have gotten a contact buzz just from reading Tha Stoner Review...the spelling in Tha Non Stoner Review Commentary is horrible! I could go in and correct my typical four o'clock in the morning typos but I think I'll just leave them. It adds a little personality to the piece.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is not the first time Tha Stoner popped here at the site to share his opinons. The first time was early last month with the release of the Kiss Sonic Boom c.d.

You can check out what he thought of the disc...and what I thought by clicking the link below. Other mebers of the CR family chime in as well like long time Kiss Fan Chad Strohl.

I think the next "Stoner Review" will be talking about the new Ace Frehley c.d called Anomaly. Here's
a track from the disc called Fractured Quantum.
