Peter Parker No Longer Spider-Man After “Death of Spider-Man” Story

Marvel has announced that after the shocking events of Death of Spider-Man, the sold out storyline currently running through Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and Ultimate Comics Avengers Vs Ultimates, there will be a new Spider-Man and a new character under the mask. Something’s happened to Peter Parker and here comes an all-new Spider-Man…in an all-new costume!

“We called this story Death of Spider-Man for a reason,” said Axel Alonso, Marvel Editor In Chief. “This is a huge story that’ll have fans around the world talking for a long time as we set the stage for the debut of our new Spider-Man.”

The Ultimate Universe is irrevocably changed with the conclusion to Death of Spider-Man in June’s polybagged Ultimate Spider-Man #160, but right now you can get in on the red-hot story that leads to the birth of an all-new Spider-Man, including new printings of the sold out issues: And to make sure you don’t miss a single chapter, pick up all the acclaimed issues below:

HAHA

Costume = LAME AS HELL

I am thinking that this will end up being Parker Peterson. Yeah fake death anyone?

Marvel is also very very horrible at leaking all this before the event takes place. Such a shame. I LOVED the Ultimate Spidey line up until I saw all of this. Instantly dropped.

So what they're saying is, Ultimate Comics are exactly like regular Super Hero comics.

Whatever happened to Ultimates being fresh and new and not weighted down by the baggage of regular Marvel comics and their Tropes?

They had 10 years of Marvel's top writers convoluting them and then weighing them down by the baggage of regular Marvel comics and their tropes.

I'm still cheering for Ultimate Ben Reilly. Though I liked the ripped sleeved hoodie better biggrin.gif

Clearly the solution is Ultimate Ultimate Comics.

What a great idea! We can start over with all new #1s and not have to deal with the baggage of the Ultimate universe. We'll start with fresh origins featuring younger, hipper characters.

Hey, there's an Ultimate Squadron Supreme already, so I wouldn't count that out of the realm of possibilities!

Ultimate Spider-Ham.

Didn't they do that? Warren Ellis's Newuniversal project? It didn't go very far as I recall.

Ultimate Spider-Ham.

That was originally MAX, which was it's only universe, essentially.

MArvel thought they could make money on the name and the book, without it being a MAX title, or sans JMS. They were sadly, very, very wrong.

Supreme Power was 'Ultimate Squadron Supreme' in everything but name. Just because it wasn't called Ultimate (and was under a different imprint), doesn't mean the exact same creative mentality went into its initial inception. Newuniversal was the same thing.

I have no doubt that the thinking was Ultimate, but since it featured bad language and other details, it had to be MAX.

Sadly, they tried to merge it into the regular Marvel universe, and made a massive failure of it. Mainly because JMS was no longer attached, even when they thought it could go on without him.
It could not.
