Last week, CR graciously plugged that I was going to be at Wizard World Chicago, taking part in their new Kids' Day Event with my U Cre-8 Comics line. It was an experience that I was truly looking forward to -- BUUUUUUUUT, there was some apparent "miscommunication" involved that had me IN Chicago, AT the Donald Stephens Convention Center, but with no reservation with the show for either a table space OR a spot in the Kids' Day plan. I'm detailing the whole ordeal on my blog in an article series called, "I Did...So you Won't Have to...", which you can follow and gain some insight through my experience.

Part One:

Part Two:

I'll be finishing the last piece shortly, but feel free to chime in with your opinions and feedback!

On pins and needles waiting for the screw-job of the year. I could see it coming right around the time of the "oh... we can't offer a booth spot but we'll do you a favor and let you put on your little demonstration." Okay. I changed the words and added the contempt.

Man, you have NO IDEA how bad I wanted to wreck fools! Just wait till you see what happened -- the fact that I'm not in jail now is a testament to my Zen-Master like patience and fortitude. But seriously -- one inch punch like a mo'fo!

I'd consider inventing a two inch punch. It would have to hurt twice as bad, right?

What a horrible way for Wizard to run their con. Sorry to hear Victor.

Thanks guys! I'd like to think that I wasn't a total idiot on this one, but it helps to hear the support of friends. And as promised, here is The Conclusion to that big ball of non-comicbooky goodness! As always, I'm optimistic and please believe I'm going to work my butt off so that Wizard HAS TO beg me to participate! Lol!!!

Ouch. Damn man. I hate to hear this no matter where it happens or to whom, but the more I think about it the crazier it seems to me.

On a side note sir, I think your U Cre-8 Comics presentation is nothing short of truly awesome, and this won't even be a small bump in the road once you get some time and distance from it. I think you've got a real winner with that, no doubt about it.

By most accounts (my own included), WWChicago seemed to bounce back this year from its recent waning, but... that's just awful.

I was nice in my write up, but Saturday lacked the fun of Friday.

On behalf of comic fans in the city of Chicago, I would like to apologize for the way WW treated you.

(And I've gone on record as to my disappointment - WW seems increasingly geared more towards getting a quick buck than being a "celebration of pop culture". I hate it when people are screwed with - and over - in my town, because it gives all of us a bad name).

Hopefully, we can have some hardcore Sketch Battle! with C2E2....

It's time to get a contract drawn up saying what you must have in place to perform (sic) or do your show/activity. Find a reputable contract lawyer. You must spell out what you will do and what you must have...

You're a better man than I am Vic, personally I would have torn that place apart looking for an employee to settle my issue (one way or another). That ambiguity of not knowing what the hell you're doing would have honestly eaten me alive. How you held it together is beyond me. Kudos for you!
