It's pretty lame. You can't even tell it's supposed to be D and a C unless someone tells you first.

That's why it says DC COMICS underneath wink.gif

Maybe it'll be like the SWOOSH in a few years when Comic Books make a BOLD return thanks to DC and their AWESOME NEW LOGOS!!!

Too much?

In all seriousness, I've become such a hater of anything new that I'm actually shocked I like tese. It's rather refreshing tp me.

What!? No way, that reads DC all the way to the bank. I'm still so jealous they didn't hire Dan Royer Design to do it tongue.gif

As a whole, they are pretty lame. They just look like covered Cs that are losing their covers.

But the Watchmen one makes me want to vomit because it means those prequel abominations are on the horizon. Ugh.

Professional letterer and logo designer Jim "Kep" Keplinger pointed out that it also looks very similar to the Discovery History logo:

I'm actually surprised so many people here like this logo. Does it feel like a comics company to you looking at it? Put aside the multimedia aspect of it for a second. And as others have pointed out, if you didn't know it was DC's new logo, and it didn't have the words "DC Comics" or "DC Entertainment" below it, A. would you know what it was for, and B. would you even get that it's a D and a C?

I think Discovery should take legal action and make D.C change this.

Yet another reason for me to continue to lose faith in D.C. Wait....what am I talking about?

I haven't had faith in D.C for about two years before all this crap started. So technically I guess my official response here should be....I don't care.

But I still hope Discovery bites you on the butt!

That is way too similar.

My main complaint has been that I do not read it as a D and a C. I can see it once I know what it is, but on first glance it's just not there for me and that's a bad logo. A good logo is clear and to the point, this is more of a symbol that needs deciphered.

And now this Discovery History logo, whoo, that's looking bad for DC.

Yeah, that is good. Love it.

I think the DC logo is like facebook redesign (don't have a facebook account, just follow the news) and the last youtube update, before the current one (which I hate, even a few weeks later). People will complain, and then they will get used to it.

Unless it is the youtube redesign, and that is just terrible.

I am one of the few who don't like it. As with quite a few of us, I do graphic design work on the side and as a graphic designer I have to say that this current logo of theirs is cold and distant. The peeling of the sticker... oops I mean turning of a page, just doesn't work. Perhaps if the edge of the peeled "d" was more sqared than rounded I might have liked it better but that isn't the case. This is just one concept I thought of, and I am wondering why they didn't look at their past logos as a reference for the new one. - http://dribbble.com/shots/397026-Detective-Comics-2012

Yep, and an eye patch, and a faithful psychic Rottweiller who is the reincarnated soul of Elliot Ness, who answers to the name 'Ace'.
