Scott pointed this out on Facebook tonight.

NBC casts Wonder Woman! 'Friday Night Lights' star lands coveted role

NBC has found its Wonder Woman!

Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki has landed the coveted lead role in the broadcaster’s reboot of the classic 1970s series.

In addition to having won praise for her performance on FNL, Palicki looks, well… spot-on perfect for the part, yes?

Wonder Woman is being remade by Boston Legal writer David E. Kelley, who has incorporated the superhero’s signature lasso, cuffs, and plane in the script. The script is a serious, non-campy take on the DC Comics character that pays homage to TV’s original WW Lynda Carter, but it should satiate those fans of Kelley’s memorable soapbox moments his legal dramas: At one point, Diana gives a speech on Capitol Hill.

For years, various writers and producers (including Joss Whedon) have tried to bring back Wonder Woman and the character has proved difficult to resurrect. But NBC is all about taking big swings next fall under new entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt, who’s greenlit high-concept pilots such as 17th Precinct (cops solve crimes in magical world) and Playboy (lives of Playboy bunnies in the 1960s).

Palicki will star in the upcoming feature-film remake of Red Dawn, and also starred in the horror film Breaking the Girl and most recently in Fox’s short-lived series Lone Star.

Here’s the official Wonder Woman description:

The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman — a.k.a. Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. Kelley and Bill D’Elia (Boston Legal, The Practice) are the executive producers. The pilot was written by Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC’s The Event). Wonder Woman is from David E. Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

If you are familiar with FNL, Adrianne first played Tim's (Gambit in Wolverine) girlfriend, then Landry's. She also played a prominent role in the short-lived series Lonestar that lasted for 3 episodes last Fall.

I'm not a fan and personally think she's a poor choice. I've seen every episode of FNL and Lonestar, and I've seen her in other things and I just don't like the casting choice.

That said, she certainly has the height and the acting chops, so we'll see.

Obviously this young lady knew the right people. Hahaha. As I've never watched any of the shows she has appeared in, I've no idea whether she can act or not. She certainly is lovely, but then again so are hundreds of other wannabe stars. Oh well, nothing for it but to wait and see what they deliver.

Well, like I said in the story on the front page, she was one of the stars of Friday Night Lights, which ran for like 5 years on NBC, so the network was very familiar with her. And she appeared on two comicy shows with Smallville and Supernatural, so yeah, I'd say she definitely knew the right people, Ron, you're right.

She was on Criminal Minds a couple of weeks ago playing Juliette Lewis's "Natural Born Killers" character, who was completely nuts, so I'd say she's a good actress. I'm just waiting to see her in the suit. I hope they get that right.

At first I didn't think she was right for the role, but that was until I realized how many changes they are making to the series. She will now have a high powered corporate office job, had the show retained the original premise I would have said that she wasn't right for the role at all, however I have since changed my mind. I think she'll do alright.

I guess she's okay. Nothing will compare to Linda Carter for this once-young idolizer though.

Pardon my language but she looks like a cheap whore. Maybe they could have created something from scratch that has a bit more meaning behind it than shopping at the local S&M club.

You know what her costume REALLY NEEDS? A UTILITY BELT and LOTS and LOTS of POCKETS! And a JACKET! And a REALLY COOL HEADWRAPPING THINGY! And really REALLY BIG HAIR!

From the waist down, I'm not feeling her costume at all.

I don't think the costume itself is all that bad, it's the execution of it. In other words, I don't mind the pants, though the blue on blue (pants/boots) is a bit much and should have been red boots. But it's the shiny hot pants and cheap S&M looking costume design that makes it bad. If we're going Amazonian, even modern Amazonian, it shouldn't be pleather or plastic looking IMO.

And from the waist up looks a little too... fake for me. Distractingly so, and not in a good way...

Hey, they've taken away the "shiny" pants and given her red boots. A real mark improvement....and has me wondering for real if they actually PAID attention to the fan clamor all over Facebook and the internet. As those were the chief complaints...and now they've been addressed. I kind of like that.

They also got rid of the lipstick. It doesn't really matter anyway, by the time it airs they will have done a color "correction" on the film itself. They usually give everything a dark blue hue, kind of like what CSI New York does. I bet you that's what they will do with this series.
