That Snake Eyes is really cool.
Glad to see you went with his classic look, not the rather poor face desigin in the Rise of Cobra movie. Possibly why there is so much interest in your version version. |

Possibly why there is so much interest in your version version. Well in the interest of fairness, the Snakeyes toy had poochy lips; unlike Optimus Prime. Stupid Michael Bay. However I suspect the movie execs insisted on having "human features" on Snakeeyes to make him "more relatable" or some similar marketing BS. Fortunately it's been corrected in the sequel which looks even better than the original. In general it's kind of hard to screw up Snake-Eyes. Though it has happened a few times throughout the history of the franchise. -------------------- You know, life is funny.

Possibly why there is so much interest in your version version. Thanks! I was torn, but decided to go with the classic comic book/cartoon/Ninja look of the character. It's my first time drawing the JOES, and I do know that the movie wasn't such a hit with fans. Probably one of the many reasons why I didn't bother watching the film. -------------------- |

Thanks! I was torn, but decided to go with the classic comic book/cartoon/Ninja look of the character. It's my first time drawing the JOES, and I do know that the movie wasn't such a hit with fans. Probably one of the many reasons why I didn't bother watching the film. I saw rise of Cobra a week ago, caught it on TV. And yes, it is lame. The script was written around the time of the Writer's Strike (I dunno why I capitalised that. Oh well And I mean ALOT of polish. The script was awful, some of the character designs (Cobra Commander, Destro) were terrible. The plot twists were terrible, and a number of actors/ actresses, in the film, are absolutely awful. Sienna Miller deserved her Razzie. She's never been good in any role. I found it idiotic that Snake Eyes had taken a 'vow of silence' rather than the mute we all know. I thought the whole point of Snake Eyes was he was intelligent despite being mute. It made him more awesome. Stephen Somers, who directed the film, is also responsible for the equally dreadful Van Helsing. Both GIJOE and VH flopped. The new movie does look significantly better, as they have taken a more faithful approach to the material. Cobra Commander looks more like the Comics and cartoon, and Snake Eye's seems to have a more smooth face. Yeah, the variations were fairly varied, some even missing the visor. Have a look below at the year by year changes. (Scroll all the way down to see them all.) My least favourite is the 2006 classfied version. Snake Eyes through the years I had forgotten that Snake Eyes had the mouth in the action figure. Strange, considering how I owned that action figure as a child. He was, in my eyes, the most well known of the GI's. Even for folks who had never owned the figure. Or seen the Cartoons or film. This post has been edited by cougar18: Dec 8 2012, 02:15 PM |

My favorites are the original Commando style and the Ninja visor style. I reckon I forgot about the lips due to the comics, never mind how much time my friends and I spent playing with our Joes back in the day. When I think of Snake Eyes, the image is almost always defined by the amazing Mike Zeck illustrations.

Mike Zeck, and Mike Golden, really did make those books awesome. But when GI Joe started getting a bit....crazy, Zeck suffered for his work. The most talented artist in the world, be they Da Vinci, or Zeck, cannot make a silly design look good. Zeck could also be hampered by a bad inker.
Not to his detriment, but annoying nonethelss. |

I need to get my mind out of the gutter. The one where Harley is holding the nightstick looks decidedly more pornographic in the thumbnail.
