Things have been popping on the PRICE FOR THE ASKING series and I thought I'd bring you all up to speed here. Initially my partner and co-writer on the series, Bill Gladman, was ramrodding the project and had gone as far as print copies of issue # 1 via a local printer in his hometown and had someone ready to post it on ComiXpress.

We are almost half way through the second story arc, and had a team in place to do the third arc as the script was completed. Then a little over a week ago, the bottom fell out on that one. Out of the blue, the penciler assigned the series, after turning in 9 pages of great art, opted to quit on us. Welcome to the real world of comics, my friend. Yup, just like that, he drops out leaving us holding the bag. I'm not mentioning his name...for obvious reasons.
The Bill naturally bummed out and he started talking about simply ending the series altogether.

Whoa. After doing two really fun stories? No way I was going to accept that. Still, it became clear to me that Bill was juggling way too many comic projects (not that I'm not...but I do this full time now, that's the difference here). So over the weekend, we agreed to led me take over the handling of PRICE FOR THE ASKING from this point out.

So, what exactly does that mean? Well what doesn't change is Bill will continue to alternate writing Simon Pryce stories with yours truly. He's still an active partner, 50-50. But as of now, I am the dude responsible for finding and recruiting the art teams for each new story. And as of now, all PFTA comics will be printed via Rob Davis' Redbud Studio at Ka-Blam and made available to the world on their Indy Planet retail store site. And we are going to start with book # 1 which, again, only saw limited printing in Ohio. Hopefully by the end of this week, or early next, it will be available at Indy Planet. Naturally I'll let everyone know when its up.

And lastly, as of this morning, the new official art team on the third story arc will be Javier Lugo on pencils and Tim Hagans on inks. Our amigo, super letterer Brant Fowler remains a permanent part of the PFTA team. Wouldn't have that any other way.

So there you have it mystery fans, Simon Pryce isn't going anywhere. We hope you to continue to enjoy his adventures and will let us know every now and then. Thanks ever, Ron

Yep!

All this is true.....Ron saved Simon from an early "retirement" and probably saved me from getting fitted for one of those tight white jackets with the sleeves in the back.

So here we go. The latest PRICE FOR THE ASKING storyline wraps today. MOVING TARGETS is finished and we hope you really liked it. Meanwhile PFTA #1 the comic continues to sell extremely well for us and now Rob Davis is going to start formatting the second issue to feature MOVING TARGETS plus a special brand new Simon Pryce short story, DIRT, by Bill Gladman.
Rob and inker Steve Faran are busy on the cover, which is a knock out. Again, there will be two editions. One from Redbudy Studio, which will be on sale at (www.IndyPlanet.com) for all our amigos across the globe and then a Twilight Star Studio edition for the comic shops of Ohio that have been our biggest boosters. Stay tuned.
And although PFTA is going on hiatus, to be replaced for a few months by as yet another really cool CR strip, it will return. The third case, MAN OF ASH, is scripted and now being illustrated by another new and talented art team. So do not despair mystery fan, Detroit's coolest P.I. will soon be on the case again.
As ever, thanks so much for you support. Means so much to all of us.

Just found out my order shipped from Ka-Blam and I should have my 30 copies in time for my trip to Cheyenne Wyoming for a signing at the HEROES ONLY comic shop there. And Rob tells me the Indy Planet site is already registering sales daily on the book. Wow. Thanks so much to everyone here at CR supporting this title. It means a great deal to the whole PFTA team.

Now that's great news. If I can't be there physically, I like that our latest comic venture represents me in some small, fun way. cool.gif

I hate Rob Davis.

Seriously, how can someone that talented exist? And then he went and gave advice to those less fortunate. mad.gif

In all seriousness, though, the guy is mega talented and really great. I am loving this stuff. And I don't want to insult the colourist and the inker, but I am really loving the pencils. Really awesome.

Something about the regular pencils on their own that make them awesome.

Thanks for the >ahem!< compliment... I think...

Glad you're enjoying the book. I'd love to get back to doing this full time, but the state of the industry and my need for medical insurance and a pension as I age kind makes that difficult. Maybe in a few years when I can join my pal Ron in retirement... smile.gif
