Nate writes...

I've got some very exciting news. I am already working hard on planning the 3rd annual Spokane Comicon. Here are some very big updates.

Next Show Date: Saturday May 2nd, 2009. (mark it on your calendars)

New Venue Location: Spokane Community College in the Lair

Finally the 2009 Special Guest of Honor is legendary artist and inker Art Thibert.

Art Thibert is one of the comic industry's most prolific and influential artists. His career has spanned nearly two decades, during which time he has been nominated for an Eisner Award and a Harvey Award. Art is a two-time winner of the Wizard Fan Favorites Award. He has either penciled or inked titles such as Uncanny X-Men, X-Men, Cable, Adventures of Superman, and the Fantastic Four. For the last three years Art has lent his talents to Marvel's top-selling Ultimate line of comics, Ultimate Spider-man and Ultimate X-Men. Art is currently working on DC Comic's weekly title Trinity with Mark Bagley.

It won't be long before it's show time. More updates coming soon!

This just in...

Hello everyone, It's time that I send out an email updating everyone about the 3rd annual Spokane Comicon on Saturday May 30, 2009.

New Location: Spokane Falls Community College (the Lounge in Building 17). Originally we were set at Spokane CC despite the fact that price for everything was more than budgeted. I was willing to make it work, but I was concerned it would cause some budget issues down the road. Recently, the Student Government approached me from SFCC and made me an offer I could not refuse. They are now a major sponsor for the show and I look forward to working with them.

New Guests added:

Brandon Jerwa is a comic book writer and singer who writes various comics for Dynamite Entertainment based on the Re-imagined Series. Some of his works are Battlestar Galactica Season Zero, and G.I. Joe. Brandon also writes a pretty-much-monthly column called ANYTHING GOES WITH BRANDON JERWA at THE COMICS WAITING ROOM.

I am very proud to announce the participation of the Hero Initiative. They will be at our next show with exclusive items for sale and auction all supporting a great cause.

New Website: Please take a second and look at the official site for the Spokane Comicon.

We still have the myspace and facebook pages but our new site will be your one stop site for everything upcoming.

Finally, the Spokane Comicon sponsored the 24 hour Comic day Challenge at Merlyn's. I spent some time talking to the local artists about our next show. It was a lot of fun seeing some old friends, meeting new people and what everyone was coming up with on the fly.

Keeping checking our new site for more exciting news to come as we keep getting closer to show time.

Best,
Nathan O'Brien
