Once again, Chuck, you're way ahead of me. Thanks so much for posting that link. I love to read, almost as much as
write, ha. And I still believe that pulp fiction is alive and well today, albeit in a more sophisticated styling...but its still
about the thrills and adventures. I hope many of you who share this love of fast-paced fiction will check out my column.

Just to let folks know, I just the other day posted my review of THE POLAR SHIFT by Clive Cussler. I love Cussler's
modern day pulp thrillers and this was no exception. Please, go to the Pulp Fiction Review site and check it out.

Got another review up late last night. This is one is of THE LIMEHOUSE TEXT, the third Cyrus Barker novel by Will Thomas.
Barker is a detective living in London at the same time as Sherlock Holmes, although he and Holmes are truly as different
as two characters can be. Barker is a former sea captain who lived and fought in China during his youth, he wears sunglasses that always conceal his eyes and is a master at martial arts. His cases are chronicled by his cler, Thomas
Llewelyn. Its a great read. Check out my review.

Sounds interesting. Is this a book that you can easily hop into the story or would you advise going back and reading SOME DANGER INVOLVED first?

Hmm, good question, Chuck. Actually, you could read this book and still enjoy...but...there are several references throughout to the first two novels. So, my personal recommendation would be to seek out SOME DANGER INVOLVED.
It's still on sale at the major book shops ala Amazon. Keeping in mind, if you really like those old Sherlock Holmes settings,
all three books are a must read. I've truly enjoyed each of them, becoming very fond of the cast and now hoping a fourth is soon on the way.

Nothing I love more than going down to the mailbox and finding another book has arrived. Although several professional publishing outfits have me on their review lists and regular send me new titles, what I particularly enjoy finding is books from small outfits. Ever now and then a writer who has self-published will trip over my review column and like it enough to
send me a copy of their work. It is discovering these unknown writers that is so much fun. And hopefully my review column will help them reach a much wider audience in the end, thus spurring their careers along. At least that's the hope and purpose behind PULP FICTION REVIEWS.
So, if any of you know of any such writers, please, tell them to stop on by the site and check it out. Maybe we can help each other out.

Just in case someone is passing by who would love to see their book reviewed, what address should they send it to?

All books should to be sent to...

Ron Fortier
89 Buffumsville Rd.

Note, besides the original blogsite, which gets about 500 visitors a week, my reviews also appear at AC Media
where they are viewed by thousands. And every now and then they will pop up in the new pulp mag,
Astonishing Adventures. So if I have the pleasure of reviewing your book, I guarantee I am will then expose
to a really good size audience.

Sometimes being compelled to do something ends up being a really good thing. Case in point the book I am currently reading. It's a fantasy book and of all the science fiction sub-genres, this is the one I like least of all. I'm usually not into
princes and fairies and elves etc.etc. So when Penguin Books sent me a review copy of D.M. Cornish's FOUNDLING, you could say I wasn't exactly thrilled.
But I do take reviewing seriously, especially when a publisher is decent enough to send me a free copy of their product.
Fair is fair. You simply can't, or at least you shouldn't, review only those things you like.
So with all that in mind, I picked this book a few days ago and started reading. And was I ever in for a surprise. A very pleasant one at that. This is a fantastic read full of new settings and graced with so many different ideas, I am having a ball here and cannot wait to review it. Hopefully before the week is out, or early next week.
Meanwhile, I just wanted to pass this along as a life-lesson learned once again. Don't shy away from new books, you may be missing real treasures.

FOUNDLING huh? Haven't heard of that. I actually enjoy fantasy novels. I'll have to give that one a try.

I'm working to finish The Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer, Photoshop 7 For Dummies and Making Comics by Scott McCould. Need to head over to the postal box. My copy of Witchfire should be there and I'm looking forward to reading and reviewing that one!

Cornish is an Australian writer and FOUNDLING is just making its way around the globe, after winning all kinds of awards in the Land Down Under. I was going ask if you'd gotten WITCHFIRE yet. Am anxious to get your feedback.
Thanks.

I'm sure it's sitting over there. I've been down with the flu since Monday. I haven't stepped outside my home since making it here after work Monday evening.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Chuck. Hope you are feeling better soon. I got a flu shot a few weeks ago and the nurse who gave it to me said they were already seeing lots of cases pop up already this season...and that most folks who got it were
set back an average of two weeks. Hope yours is not so long. Sincerely.

My review of FOUNDLING is now posted. By far one of the most delightful fantasy adventures I have ever read. Was a truly nice mix of Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stephenson and J.K. Rowlings. Don't miss one.

I finally found a book in this series. It's in my stack. I'll get to it eventually.

Way to go, Glen. I'm sure once you've read that one, you'll most likely want to get the others. They are really well done.
And thanks for stopping by the forums. Much appreciated, amigo.

Hi Ron and Chuck,

Congratulations on teaming up on this forum - great idea!

I just wanted to say thanks to Ron for his great reviews. I stop by every week to read them and your entries on Airship 27. I'm not quite the voracious reader you are, so it's great to hit the highlights via your blog.

Take care!
