Hello,
I first want to introduce myself as this is my first post. It's always great to be able to communicate with others who share the same interests. Second, I want to start posting my artwork for feedback and critiques. I want to engage my illustration career more aggressively and started revamping my portfolio recently. I believe that others who enjoy the same type of art will be very up front, honest and open of their opinions and help me grow. Here is my first pic. Thanks in advance to anyone who responded.

If you want to warp ahead in your coloring, absorb these two books:
Hi-Fi Color For Comics: Digital Techniques for Professional Results ...and the follow-up: Master Digital Color: Styles -- Tools -- Techniques These will radically change your style and avoid the "airbrushed" look. I think you'll like 'em! :-) -------------------- Owner and Creator at PixelFigs

I think you'll like 'em! :-) I'd also like to add DC Comics Guide to Coloring and lettering to that list, as well. Also, because effective coloring in comics has to do primarily with your mastery of both color theory and lighting and shading, I strongly advise adding Dynamic Shade and Lighting by Burne Hogarth to that list. Unlike some of his other books, this isn't a "how-to" book, but it's a book that illustrates and explains the "why's" of lighting and shade. As for color theory, just about any book on the subject should suffice, but I happen to like and recommend, Color Theory by Jose Parramon. Although this book was aimed more at traditional painters, I don't see how this book cannot help the digital colorist, either. This post has been edited by Carl Shinyama: Mar 20 2011, 05:16 PM |
