Small Victories: Sketch Cards, Copics, and General Shenanigans
Literally drawing a little bit here and there These aren't all recent, most were done back in January and I finished up the Akuma today. Just whipping up some of my favorite fighting game characters and taking some requests during down time at work:  They're shown in order of draw date from left to right, Geese Howard, Rock Howard, and Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury game series. I whipped up the Akuma for a friend. Apologies, my scanner is on the fritz so there's a little bit of blur to the image. I'll try to keep these coming as time goes on. They're fun to pop out and it helps keep me in practice. I was inspired by all the great artists I met at Mid Ohio Con who were whipping up grey scale commissions for folks. I need to get a compact mirror to carry with me in my sketch bag. I felt there was some weird asymmetry in Akuma's head; and yep - looking at it in the mirror his mouth is a little off the mark. Ever since I watched that Doug Mahnke pencilling DVD (where he shows how he uses a mirror to ensure his figures are solid) I've been very paranoid about asymmetry in my drawing. -------------------- You know, life is funny.

Brightest Day really got me excited for my old favorite Swamp Thing, so I got around to taking a crack at him on a sketch card:

Hi there!
Trying to be less lazy. Warming up with a sketch card. I wanted to try aping Chris Stevens gray scale mastery, but I went overboard and failed to texture the face as much as I would have liked; and I cheated and used a copic pen to add texture.  Going to try to crap some of these out for Free Comic Book Day at the comic shop. If they'll have them. -------------------- You know, life is funny.

File this under shenanigans, or sketches.
Doing some figure drawing this morning out of Bill Dobbin's photo book The Women for muscular female forms in preparation for a take on Glory. Those however aren't appropriate for this forum, so here's my take on Glory's head trying to nail down the headgear and facial scarring. Upper left is just redrawing Ross Campbell's version to get the idea. Bottom is me being a spaz:  Will work on the figure and her armor later. -------------------- You know, life is funny.

After I drew the last Lobo card my buddy informed me the Main Man appeared on Young Justice. I looked it up online and wanted to take a crack at that design.
 Copic & Design2 markers, Prismacolor pencils, process white, and Sharpie white pen. It got a little messy as the Copics smeared some of the line work when I started coloring him in.
