I recently came across one on THIStv, a film from the 60's called Fearless Frank, which featured Jon Voight pre-Midnight Cowboy as a low-budget superhero tackling super villains. Are there any other obscure superhero films that are worth seeking out?

Don't know if you've seen it, but back in 1980, John Ritter and Ann Archer did a superhero film called "Hero at Large". It's a little simplistic, but still an entertaining watch. You might want to check it out.

Hero At Large is a good one! As I recall, it's the one where he is the first 'real world" superhero when, dressed as a superhero property, he stops a robbery. Kinda of a dramedy as I recall... but it has been a loooong time since I've seen it!
Another weird one is The Return of Captain Invincible from the 80's with Alan Arkin as a 50's superhero who HUAC caused to go into hiding, and he becomes an alcoholic... and Christopher Lee is the villain! |

If you going to bring up Starman (a wonky flick btw, as I recall it may have been edited from a TV show), how about the obscure Japanese superhero tv show AKUMA-KUN aka Devil Boy:

I would say that Steel and the Shadow, as relatively recent films from Hollywood, aren't really the obscure I'm looking for, but they may be obscure to some folks who never saw them or are younger than my geezerly age!
