Now I just need to find 235 birthday candles...

Here's to another 235 years, America--I'm proud to have been lucky enough to be born here, in the greatest country since they started making countries. (add a little extra pride for having been born a Texan while I'm at it.)

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but they are also celebrating it around the world at certain US embassies, and I include Ireland here.

So how about a few well wishes for those of us outside the US?

And cake...save us a slice.

Any celebration of a democracy is for all the freedom loving people of the world. So grab a big piece of Star-Spangled cake, Cougar and some of that ice cream too. This is a truly awesome day for the melting pot that is America...thanks to the French, Irish, Brits, Russians, Poles....etc.etc.etc. There would be no USA without every single one of them.

I actually said "in or from the United States," but yeah, what Ron said, Happy Independence to all that celebrate. And this country certainly wouldn't be what it is without the diversity that made us what we are today.

I saw that Gonzo, but the difference is that alot of people celebrating it abroad are not Americans, rather they are employed by American companies. The companies are celebrating it, as is their right, and giving the employees a day out too.

And yeah, diversity is highly important. A different world view can shape an individual and make them far stronger than they realise.

Happy July 4th!!!

Man....can't believe it's the 4th already!!! But I'm not complaining. Besides a "terrible" badminton accident that happened yesterday evening and ended with my wife in the emergency room this morning.....and on crutches by mid-day.....it's been great.

Even this slight setback hasn't affected our weekend as we take time to celebrate the birth of this nation and remember those who have paid the price to allow us the freedoms we enjoy today.

I'm in the middle of my first "real" paid vacation in years which doesn't have the word un-employment attached to it. Spent the last four days with our oldest grand-daughter as she stayed with us while her parents were vacationing in Gatlinburg Tennessee. We've stayed busy with watching a play in the park, playing in the park several times, watching fireworks, hiking, swimming, playing softball, video games, watched King Kong, saw a puppet show, went to a rock concert (Dennis DeYoung formerly of Styx....what a great show), flying remote control helicopters, setting paddle ball records and bike riding.

Payton just went home....I just took a much needed afternoon nap.....and my wife is drugged out on pain killers. (just a sprain...didn't break anything)

Time to take advantage of the rest of my vacation and get some other "work" done including working on the next collected volume of NCD, working on some art for the studio, and reading some comics!

Ya know, if you wanted G-man, you could celebrate it again when your wife is not so incapacitated.

But I'm Irish, so any excuse to drink copious amounts of alcohol. wink.gif
