Hello, everybody! How've you been? It's been like forever…we have to get together sometime! Anyway...I have a question for you: As you may not know, I've been trying to break into comics for awhile now. This year I've been starting up another big "push" to that effect. In fact, check out my art gallery when you get the time: http://gforrydesign.deviantart.com/gallery/ Recently, I have an opportunity to see some of my artwork see print in a sketchbook which will (hopefully) be making the rounds at the conventions beginning in October. It is featuring the zombie-hunting valkyrie-type heroine known as Ursula which is created by Bill Nichols. There's also a few dozen or so other aspiring artists and a few established comics artists that are contributing art to this sketchbook, too. However, there is (as always) a snag: the project needs funding to get going. And that sucks more because the economy isn't quite back up to speed making wallets and purses tighter than usual. Still, I know that if I can get just a quarter of my friends (old and new) to pledge a few bucks each, then I can realize my dream of seeing something of mine in print. (Plus, I'm sure Bill Nichols and everybody else woking on it would appreciate it, too…) The sketchbook is the brainchild of Bill Nichols a writer/creator/mentor of comics and an all-around swell guy. He's using a reputable fundraising site known as Kickstarter and all pledges are routed through Amazon for processing. Credit card pledges aren't processed until the goal is reached at the end of the fundraising period (beginning of October in this case); if the project isn't fully funded by that date your card doesn't get processed. If you'd be able to pledge $5 on the site you get a PDF of the sketchbook and a color bookmark; $10 gets you the physically printed sketchbook (I'm even offering to come autograph it, too!). Pledges of $20 and above get the sketchbook plus other swell incentives like exclusive prints. Here's the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/billni...chbook-relaunch Even if you can't swing $5 or more at the moment the site also allows pledges of just a $1. If you can't swing that…I understand, too. (Doesn't mean I won't be a little disappointed, but I understand! ; p ) Again, I hope you'll be able to help me out. At least for the pledge you actually get something physical (er, or digital if you opt for the $5 PDF) in addition to helping out a cause. Thanks in advance… Greg Forry aspiring comics artist
