Latest sketch cover, this time Spider-man versus Venom on an Avenging Spider-man #1 blank sketch variant. I had a lot of fun doodling this one up!

As with the earlier sketch covers, this one is up on ebay for anyone interested. Check it out here!

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in this sort of thing, but here is the rough version of the sketch cover I'm working on right now - Defenders #1, featuring Iron Fist. I generally go from super rough pencils like this directly into ink with my brush. Since I'm inking the work myself, there's no real reason to do double work with tighter pencils. I know it is out of fashion these days, but I really like the spontaneity of working this way. Ultra-tight pencils, to me, always seem stiffer.

I'll post the finished piece in the next couple of days so you can compare the two stages...I'm also probably going to add a couple of more heads into the layout to balance the design a bit.

Just finished this up for the Amazing Arizona Comic Con this week. Captain Marvel has one of the best costume designs in all of comics. Hard to believe it's been around for 40 years!

And here is the finished Iron Fist piece. This will probably be my last post until after the Amazing Arizona Comic Con this week. If any one is going to be there, stop by booth T29 in Artist Alley and say hi!

Like that Defenders cover. Iron Fist rocks! Both the character and your rendering.

Back from the aptly named Amazing Arizona Comic Con. The show was fantastic again this year and I had a lot of fun.

My new sketch cover continues with the trend of 70s/80s style characters, this time with Rogue and a bunch of characters from my favorite period of the X-men. Up until this piece I had been thinking my base "non-elf" style was Al Milgrom, but now I'm thinking it's a bit more Kerry Gammil. What do you guys think?

If any one is interested, the Rogue sketch cover is available. Just send me a note if you're interested.

Back to drawing!

So, who around here remembers Cybrid from the old Extreme days in the 90s? You can find out a bit more about why the heck I drew a pretty obscure Image Comics character from 1996 over on my website. I think it's a semi interesting tale. smile.gif

Showing off your man-thing is illegal in most states.

But the drawing is nice!

Thanks, guys. Truthfully, Man-Thing is easy because I'm essentially just drawing my mother-in-law.

Just finished this up...it's the new Glory design, which I really like. She's reminding me more of Big Barda and less of a bad girl version of Wonder Woman.

Nice.

The new Glory design is pretty damn awesome.

Though I'm biased, women with some muscle on them are relevant to my interests. smile.gif

It's also fun to get a chance to do a character that is a bit different from your standard super heroine body type.

I've just picked up a huge stack of 6"x6" Bristol pads and have decided to use them for my daily warm-up sketches. Since I've always been a fan of the 1940s era Dick Briefer Frankenstein comics, I decided to start there.
