I wanted to draw some attention to these two projects, but maybe we could just use this topic to draw attention to a multitude of projects.
Comics in Focus: The Image Revolution QUOTE Twenty years ago, a group of artists left Marvel Comics to create their own company, a company that continues to influence mainstream comics and culture to this day. Image Comics began as more than just a publisher -- it was a response to years of creator mistreatment, and it changed comics forever. Comics in Focus: The Image Revolution will tell the story of Image Comics, from its founders’ work at Marvel, through Image’s early days, the ups and downs of the '90s, and the publisher’s new generation of properties like The Walking Dead. We will tell the company's story through new interviews with the people who made it happen. And what better time than during Image’s 20th anniversary to make this documentary? The film will be produced by the same team behind the critically-acclaimed documentaries Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods and Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts. It will be directed by Patrick Meaney and produced in partnership by Sequart Research & Literacy Organization and Respect Films. This will be the second (after Comics in Focus: Chris Claremont’s X-Men) in a new series of documentaries offering in-depth looks at significant works and moments that shaped comics history. These documentaries will be released through direct download and online DVD sales. Fairy Quest QUOTE Paul Jenkins and Humberto Ramos are world-renowned creators who have enjoyed great success in the comic industry working on such characters as Wolverine, Batman, Captain America and many others. Between them, they have received Eisner Awards, Wizard Fan Awards, a government-sponsored Prism Commendation, and even AIAS and BAFTA Award nominations. Paul and Humberto enjoyed an acclaimed run on Marvel’s Spectacular Spider-Man, and have previously collaborated on the international bestselling graphic novel, Revelations, which has been published in numerous languages worldwide.
Fairy Quest is the first book of the Fablewood saga, a long-term project, which each creator sees as a labor of love. It first appeared as a limited edition hardbound run in 2011 and promptly sold out of its 1000-copy print run after just two convention appearances! Both creators feel strongly that Kickstarter and other crowd-funding endeavors are beneficial for the creative community and the fans alike, and hope to garner support for other creators on this site by bringing awareness to their projects and even contributing to some selected comic projects (please go to the bottom of this page for more details). With this in mind, we are going back to print and would like to have you all be a part of the process. Since we are putting up a number of reward items (which you can see to the right of this page), we can only estimate to the best of our judgment where the money raised here will go. If we meet our goal, we estimate that roughly 60% will go directly to the printing and shipping of the Fairy Quest book. We estimate that a further 20% will go towards the production and shipping costs of the Red and Woof statues, and the final 20% will go to the manufacturing costs of the other items we are listing here. -------------------- You know, life is funny.
If you don't repeat the actions of your own success You won't be successful You gotta know your own formula, your own ingredients What made you, YOU. |
