Everyone is speculating over what role Sherlock start Benedict Cumberbatch will play in the Star Trek sequel. I'm hoping it does prove to be Khan Noonien Singh (previously played by Ricardo Montalban in the original series and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan). What do you think? Good fit?

Sadly, that was dispelled earlier this week by Simon Pegg apparently:

Thankfully not. I can't imagine the hyper-feminine Cumberbatch (fantastic Sherlock as he is!) as Khan. Khan's 20th-Century machismo would be ill-served if they'd chosen him for the role.

I think a few weeks in the gym, and Cumberbatch could do it.

But honestly, I think most would not like seeing a non Mexican/ non-latin actor in the role. Montalban made Khan his own, so it is hard for anyone else to follow the role without having Montalban's qualities.

I have to agree with the sentiments here. I love him as an actor, but can't see him fit the role. He'd make a great Vulcan.

Agree totally with Charles here, he'd be awesome as a Vulcan.
