There was a writer at the Kankakee Fantasy Con over the weekend doing this same thing. He was charging $2 for a full page story.

Hi Art, actually they are only a few miles of the western end of the city. A group of hills fronts that part of the city, beyond them is the reservoir and then more hills that rise up into the Front Range. That's where the forest fire has been blazing for the past week. There was never any danger of it cresting over the hills, but the heavy pall of smoke and ash have covered the city like an umbrella for several days, making outdoor activity unhealthy.
Thousands of acres have been lost, over 80 private homes and one fatality, a poor woman who failed to heed the evacuation notices was found dead in her ruined home. Truly tragic.
Today, for the first time, fire officials were said to be getting control of the burn and the winds changed overnight, pushing that awful smoke away from the city and we were able to breath clean air again. The weather forecast is calling for thundershowers and rain overnight and we are certainly praying that will be a finish to what some are saying was one of the worst forest fires in Colorado history.
