Is anyone else a fan of Mouse Guard, Amulet, or any of these comics?, Just trying to find others who enjoy the same comics as I do!

Firstly, I really hope this is the right place for this! If not, I'm very sorry!

As the title says, I'm wondering if any of you here enjoy the same comics as I do. I'll list a few of my favourites below, and if you like them, I'd love to discuss what it is you enjoy about them with you!

So, do any of you know of or like any of the following:

Mouse Guard by David Peterson
Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi
Ghostopolis by Doug Tennapel (or any of his other work, although this is the only one I've read so far)
The Saga Of Rex by Michael Gagne
Age Of Reptiles by Ricardo Delgado
Zita The Spacegirl by Ben Hatke
Daybreak by Brian Ralph

EDIT: I added Daybreak, I can't believe I didn't put it in the list before!

The main reason I ask is so I can find people who enjoy the same comics as me, but also because I have repeatedly asked people I know if they've read any of these, and 9 times out of 10 they've never even heard of them! It's a shame, because I'd highly recommend some of these books!

I enjoy Mouse Guard, though I'm WAY behind with the story as I haven't even darkened the door of a comic shop in...over a year now. I'll get caught up this summer I'm sure, my best friend is diehard Mouse Guard and has them all.

Age of Reptiles was one of my favorite comics from a few years ago, and one of the few pieces of my long gone collection that I decided to keep when the rest of it went up for sale. Good stuff there, no doubt about it.

I've heard of the rest, but not read them.

Have you read The Killer? Probably the best comic I've read in at least five years.

I'm not completely up to date with Mouse Guard either, as I wait for them to be released a hardback books rather than buying each issue. So I've read Autumn and Winter, and Legends Of The Guard, but haven't read any of The Black Axe.

You sold loads of your collection? I can't imagine selling any of my books haha. But yeah, Age of Reptiles is great!

I'd recommend checking out the rest of those books I listed, even if you don't end up buying them.

I haven't heard of The Killer, I'll check it out! smile.gif

I funded production on a seven issue limited series by parting out my collection, so while it was painful in a sense, it was totally worth it in the end. Besides, I can always get them back again if I want them badly enough. smile.gif

Oh I see! That makes a lot more sense now; I can totally understand why you'd sell them for that! smile.gif

Yeah! I always want to read Mouse Guard so badly that I almost buy the separate issues, but I like the hardcover books so much more! And besides, buying the hardcover rather than each individual issue means it gives me more to read at the time haha smile.gif and they look nicer on my bookshelf, too!

I like Mouse Guard in its collected form. And David's a heck of a nice guy. He was our featured interview in Sketch Magazine #40.

Yeah, I'd love to meet David one day, he's a real inspiration to me! He definitely seems like a nice guy; I've emailed him twice now to interview him for my college and university projects, and he's replied in detail both times smile.gif

I got to meet him at Wizard World Chicago in 08 before we ever did the interview. Definitely a nice guy. Mouse Guard was something my son, who isn't big on reading, liked....

And of course, I get his updates on Facebook...

I think it's great that graphic novels can encourage those who aren't keen readers to enjoy reading more smile.gif I've found that I'm not as into ordinary novels any more though haha; I miss all the pictures, and the way a comic book flows and leads the eye around the pages. They're just more 'enchanting' to me than normal novels, I suppose!

So, will anyone else be getting Doug Tennapel's 'Cardboard' when it comes out? It looks/sounds pretty interesting, and I loved Ghostopolis, so I'm almost certainly going to buy it! On another note, I need to buy more of his books in general...
