While at Windy City Pulp Show, Rob and I ran into a comic book editor/publisher very well known and respected in the business. I don't want to say any more right now. You see, we pitched him THE LIFE & TIMES OF BASS REEVES. A couple of days ago he checked out the presentation and
got back to us with interest in picking it up. Rob is now taking these talks to the contract stage, so I'm not about to jinx us with spilling all the beans. Just wanted to let you amigos know we might have some very good news to report in the very near future.

Thanks guys. As soon as contracts are actually signed, I'll be making the first official announcement right here. Fingers crossed.

Any new news on this project, Ron? I'm really looking forward to this one.

Sadly, no. Although someone here at CR recently (just a few days ago in fact) approached Rob and me about the possibilities of putting
this out for us. Unfortunately this was not a big money offer and without that, proceeding is unrealistic at the moment. Rob is committed to another comic project at present, while at the same time we are both swamped with all our pulp books. So we had to decline what was a really gracious offer from a good soul. I'm really not a liberty to say any more right now, except if nothing else changes by
next year, we might revisit that offer.

I really hated putting the brakes on this new offer, but in the time between our last possibility petering out and this new offer I have committed to other projects that I must complete. I have a "real job" working 9-5 and as much as I'd like to get everything done that has come my way I just can't. Retirement is too many years in the future, darnnit! and the mortgage and bills don't pay themselves-sigh-. I'm hoping that eventually we WILL get to do this project, as it's one that I'm very enthusiastic about. Stick around...

Thanks for posting that, Rob. Sadly, in all our careers there are always those personal projects we want to do so badly, but nothing ever seems to work in their favor. That's the real case here. Hopefully some day we'll find a publisher who understands the potential inherent in the project as we do and is willing to take a chance with us. But till then
we both have our plates filled with dozens of other projects that people are waiting for.
For now this true life western has to stay in the corral.
