OK, it's feedback time - anyone enjoy this month's column?

And better yet...any suggestions for future columns? (I know, I have awhile to write one...but I'm always looking for ideas).

In fact, there's an earlier post in the forum where I am actively seeking your questions.

Thanks!
Gordon

Hello Gordon.

I wanted to "chat" with you a little. Anytime some one requests a little feedback and suggestions I like to do what I can. I read your column regularly, but I can't honestly comment too much about the last one. I too do not care for animae all that much....did not like the animatrix a few years back.....and have not yet seen Batman: Gotham Knight....several friends have bought it and it comes with a 50/50 like ...dislike ratio with those same friends.

I imagine I will eventually check it out...but do not see doing so anytime in the near future.

On another note....my two favorite columns I read of yours were the piece on fan film and fiction and your comparing of the Ghost Rider and Daredevil films....(liked them both, own both, but prefer Daredevil myself)

As a matter of fact that particular one was my favorite, I know the suggestion may only appease me but have you done any previous movie to movie comparisions like that and do you plan any more?

Elektra vs. Catwoman?

Just kiddin', Commissioner.

Superman...the first film ....and Batman 1989...might prove interesting.

Fantastic Four....X-Men?

Blade ...Punisher.

Alan Moore films....From Hell, V For Vendetta and XLG.....I know he hated them all...but which one did you like best?

Finally....non-superhero comic adaptions like Road to Perdition and History of Violence would make for a good side by side review.

How do you feel about other straight to d.v.d animated films? I think you did a column about Justice League: New Frontiers.....but what did you think of Superman: Doomsday? Doctor Strange and Iron Man? The Ultimate Avengers? The Hellboy films (animated ones)?

Did you .....dislike ...the straight to d.v.d Man-Thing film as much as I did and how do you feel about D.C. doing a new Swamp-Thing film. Don't think they have one planned....but I would love to see one. How about you?

Alright..that's it. Think I'm done here.

G-Man,

Thanks for your feedback - I always like to hear feedback. Helps keep me going....

Gotham Knight is definitely worth renting via Netflix - I'm not a big anime fan, but I think the quality of the writing keeps this movie going along.

Anyway, I liked several of your ideas, including:

Yes - pretty much the first two "superhero" movies that defined (and redefined) the genre.

QUOTE
Alan Moore films....From Hell, V For Vendetta and XLG.....I know he hated them all...but which one did you like best?

I was actually thinking of doing a semi-regular "compare and contrast" from comics to screen - but I like the idea of comparing Moore's filmed work. I think this may be the August column. I only wish I had a prize for you. cool.gif

I actually have both coming up in my Netflix queue - maybe in the fall. (I'll also arrange to read the graphic novels, if only because I think it's only fair to look at the source material before watching the film.

You know, I've blogged about some of these...but may a "back to school" themed column where I play catchup might be good. I didn't care for S:D or Ulltimate Avengers, but I don't think I've watched any of your other recommendations...

Haven't seen the Man-Thing film (although it would be sorely tempting to a "bad comic movies" column), and if DC wants to do a new Swamp Thing film, that's cool...although you might want to ask Mike Sterling how he feels. He's a big Swamp Thing fan.

I think the way it looks now, I'm going to be writing the Moore film idea in August, and I have a couple of ideas for September and October (one has to be Doc Savage - and other pulp-related - movies). But thanks for the input - my job has just become a lot easier.

Gordon
