Well, we all have a mix of races in us to be sure, and this topic is a very interesting one and I too am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

As for me, I got a little English, Irish, Cherokee, Blackfoot and German in me that I know of. I think it was my great, great grandmother was full-blooded Native American. It might have been my great grandmother, don't remember. Anyway, it's in there.

You should interview Kevin Grevioux of Underworld movie/ New Warriors comic fame. You can look him up on Facebook for his contacts. He has a lot to say about race in comics.

I thank you all for your interested and hope not to let the minority flag fly too high lol

on a side note I was raised in the Cherokee culture but I am also Chiriahua Apache, Irish and Geman. My dad was half Irish & Half Cherokee , as for my mom she's all of the above lol, but an interesting note on the Chiriahua Apache side my ancestry is a direct line from Chief Mangus Coloradas (my great, great,great grandfather pictured below) he was father-in-law to Chief Cochise & a friend to Goya (aka Geronimo)

Glad to see the column finally went up, and it was well woth the wait. I really liked it. Good stuff.

I love Turok and I'm very glad to see him mentioned. I also like Red Wolf.

I think Echo has the potential to be one of the best Native American characters out there, too bad that Bendis guy keeps forgetting she's Native American.

Have you ever heard of a Native American character named Coyote, created by Steve Englehart. I like the character a lot and was wondering what you thought of him as well as the character Black Bison from the old Firestorm books.

I'm glad you enjoyed the column, I think I should note because of the time that it took it to go live, Chuck as assured me that all future columns will go up around the 12th of each month from now on.

Yes I too have a Love for Turok

so now on to your questions;

Haven't really read anything with Black Bison it so i couldn't give an adjective answer on that character other then natives don't really refer to Buffalo as Bison so the name is abit wobbly in that repect but then as i said I haven't read anything to do with this character,

I am familar with Coyote, in fact did you Todd Mcfarland got his first pro gig drawing a back up feature in that book (which I have in my collection ),
but the one complant I have about coyote in that series is Coyote imbodied in a white man but then again I kind of find it humorous as well so I really don't have a much of a negative view of the character lol,

now with Echo I wish David would pick the reigns back up with that character (given his time constrains and the powers that be at marvel I don't see it happening) or at the very least get someone to write it that has some repect & knowledge of native culture
