Jim Anthony will always have a special place in my heart.

He was the hero of my first ever attempt at a pulp story. Oh, sure, the book is a recent release, but it contains my first pulp tale and you always remember the first time. Ha!

Up until this story, writing pulp was just a dream I had, brought on by almost 100 Doc Savage adventures and a smattering of Shadows. My pulp output before Jim consisted of one chapter of a Doc Savage collaborative novel that died on the table.

So when the invite came to try my hand at Jim Anthony, I didn't know what to do. But I researched the character and sat down to see if I could capture the pulp voice. And the words just poured out of me! The pulp voice was just there and the story all but wrote itself.

Given the fortunes of publishing, my first pulp tale languished while I published a host of other pulp stuff, but it finally did see the light of day and I couldn't be more thrilled.
