Wow Ross you've been very prolific in the time I've been gone. Love the work. Really incredible stuff.... it's no wonder you're so busy, you do great work.

Love the Surfer piece

I'm not going to turn down the work (or the $$), but ironically enough, I've been finding it hard to get Fallen Justice #7 finished up with all of the commission work I've been doing. And, of course, after Fallen Justice is finished up I was going to color up some samples for Marvel and DC. One step at a time though. Ha ha.

...and thanks! I loved the way the Surfer pic turned out too. I'm not totally sold on the power cosmic effect I have going on, especially since the conversion from RGB to CMYK killed it, but the client loved it. I got a comment on it that it looked like he crushed a bag of cheetoes in space, and now I can't see anything but space cheetoes when I look at it.

I'm working on an Avengers pic by the same guy right now, and I hope to have it finished up tonight.

I finished these color commissions up this weekend.

Whatchuthink?

Sniper & Rook

The Justice League

This was the first time I've really tried to use the motion blur over a character to show movement, so I'd be really interested in hearing your opinions on that aspect. This one had two versions. This one was a challenge because of the tonal pencils and the size of some of the characters. I ended up doing 100% color holds after playing around with the settings and trying different combos to allow the color to come through from behind the pencils.

C&C's are always appreciated.

Thanks, Jake!

I made some changes to my original image to bring some glows out on the demon shadow and incorporate it into the wall a bit better. I also put the building in the background into some more shadow to help bring out the foreground.

Just for goofs, this was the original direction I was taking with the image. I incorporated the changes here too, but didn't really play around with things much more than that, so I would still call this a work in progress if I was still going forward with a night scene.

Colored this commission on Sunday. This was a little different for me, since everyone but Johnny was inked and he was done in tonal pencils.

C&C's as always....blah blah blah.....:)

Been crazy busy at work and at home. Here are some of the things that I've been working on lately. Love to hear what anyone thinks about them. C&C's are more than welcome.

Marvel Melee
Tonal pencils by Eric Henson

Working on pencils can be a challenge, but I think working with tonal pencils can actually be more challenging. The rendering (for the most part) is already there, so just putting some flats underneath it can give it the appearance of a fully rendered piece. I like the challenge of trying to find ways to bring more out of the pencils. Not that I want to work on it all the time..... :?

Kid Occult
Lines by Leonel Castellani

This was a lot of fun. Leonel's style is very reminiscent of Mike Wieringo.

Matt Zolman did this pin-up f of Dyna-girl and some of the other cast from Fallen Justice. I liked it so much that I did some colors for it. I'm not wild about the background and am totally open to some suggestions for it.

Here is the follow up to the Big 12 Poker piece. A lot of the detail gets lost at the reduced size, especially the jersey mesh. Ah well. Yes, the A&M mascot is a male this time around, not the female it's supposed to be, but we'll file that under creative license. smile.gif I also re-created the logo since I couldn't find one of a suitable size online that would blow up without looking too rough. Hence the font isn't exactly right.

C&C's more than welcome!!

Just a quick warm up this morning to get started. Tried a version with a spotlight background, but I don't think it works as effectively as the white.

After nearly 3 years of working on this book off and on, it's finally finished.

Here is my final page for Fallen Justice. I'll have some more to say in a little while in the Red Handed section of the forums. [/tease]

*edit* Censored headstone for surprise in final issue.
