 Okay gang, get out your pencils, pens, markers, Bristol, scanners, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., etc., READY!! Our NEWEST BLUELINE PRO contest will be a BLOOD & ROSES COVER! And I'm not just asking for pencils or inks-- I want you to go ALL OUT! The winning piece will be published in SKETCH MAGAZINE as well as posted at COMIC RELATED and SKETCHMAGAZINE.NET! Here are your instructions: -I want to see you LAY OUT your cover, -FULLY PENCIL your cover -INK your cover -ADD LETTERING to your cover -and COLOR your cover! What I'm looking for is INSIGHT into YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS! And for this, I'm posting a PROCESS THREAD for you to post your sketches and steps, and a COMMENTS THREAD, for you to talk about the work! ALL FINAL ART WILL BE POSTED RIGHT HERE!! I am giving you until JULY 18TH THROUGH JULY 20TH to POST YOUR FINISHES!! YOU CAN BEGIN YOUR PROCESS THREADS IMMEDIATELY IF YOU WISH! And PLEASE!! Unfortunately not, Steve. Setting these contests up disqualifies both Mark and I from a chance of a win. Besides, I'm working around commissions, the books, and some charity pieces. go to it!! And invite all of your MySpace friends and ComicSpace friends!

My work-flow for producing an illustration usually goes: -Create thumbnail layouts - as many as it takes until I'm happy -Scan final thumbnail, enlarge, and neaten up in photoshop -Digital paint over layout in photoshop I would still be able to post progress pics, and I think it would be quite interesting to see different ways of working from people. -------------------- |

If that's the way you work, please show the best examples of it and include an explanation of what you've done. If, for example, you digitally ink, then explain it. For example, enlarged and cleaned up in Phototoshop, I digitally ink in Photoshop. You get the idea.
