During a weekend trip to Studio Akumakaze a few days ago, artist and long time Akumakaze guru Chris Hoskins showed me the completed art pages for the story Driver's Seat that I wrote and that he illustrated.

Driver's Seat will appear in issue #1 of the new horror anthology Visions of the Macabre #1 produced by Studio Akumakaze. (what a productive meeting Sunday...we managed to map out the contents of Visions #1-3 and several projects! In attendance was BJay Johnson, Chris Hoskins, Dustin Carson, Chad Strohl, Chris Metzger, and myself)

Visions of the Macabre #1 will also feature the story Dead Money written by Frank Raynor and illustrated Chris Martin as well as the story A History of Blood written by Aaron Smith and drawn by Jacob Newell. The book should be available in time for Gem City 2010.

Chris and I wanted to share a sneak peek of the art for Driver's Seat. It is being lettered right now. Here is a preview of pages #1 and #2 of the six page story.

A preview of pages #3 and #4 can be found in the Studio Akumakaze forum here at the CR site.

Yo G-Man, this art is gorgeous...except that last page is total illogical...unless the car is going off a cliff? No way we could be seeing up under it as it hits the woman, who in the previous page seemed to be walking across a road...and not by the edge of a cliff?

The car is indeed going off a cliff. The girl is walking on the edge of the road near a guard rail, the driver swerves off the road as indicated in panels two and four as he starts to drift slowly left of center.

AHA...so I'm assuming that will be elaborated on in the next page. Damn fine artwork.

Thanks Ron. I know it's not as clearly shown as it could be, but that comes from the darkness that i tried to impose. I tried to give only lightsource from the headlights so you wouldn't really see too much around the area. I will say that within the next couple pages there will be no doubt of the cliff involved. I really do appreciate you breaking the image down, though.

Your welcome. It's a really strong start and I'm anxious to see where it leads.
