Just thought I'd sound a bit on what's been happening to our beloved Red Sox during the Hot Stove season. Losing left field slugger Jason Bay was a disappointment, but fully understand Bay's desire, as a free agent, to optimize what he can get. We all love sports as a game, but for these players it is also a livelihood.
The addition of Marco Scutaro as our new shortstop looks to be a fine move but raises the question of where Jed Lowrie ends up, if he gets healthy and returns next Spring. Whereas John Lackey is a damn good pitcher and nice addition to our pitching staff. My personal concern is Josh Beckett, whose last two years have been sub-par of what we all know he's capable of. Am hoping big-time he can get back to that level in the coming year. All in all the team shapes up well. Would love to see one more home run hitter added to the roster, but from all indications, another trade of that type won't happen any time soon. Soon again, we wait for Spring Training...with anticipation and hope. In baseball, there's always next season! |
