In order here.
Yes Rick has one night with Lori very soon after discovering that she is alive...and many more after that but I for one (and several other readers) got the impression she was already pregnant at that time and in the very early stages of her pregnancy when Rick and her first met up again. Even the guy that plays Shane in the t.v series (who would make a great Carmine "The Big Ragu" Ragsu if they ever made a remake of Laverne and Shirley, but I think that might be the only role he is actually qualified for) was almost able to pull off with his High School Musical acting chops that they was something going on or at least happened one time...with Lori the zombie. I believe most of this stuff is really brought up in volume 6...not sure I will have to check this as well. I don't find anything unbelievable about how they brought Glenn into the t.v. show...just don't like it. The way they brought him into the book allowed for instant character reaction and development between the two characters, once again the changes made to the show produces additional material which increase production cost and really unnecessary, just like the shoot out at the beginning of the show. Even the best part of the first episode (zombie wife) was additional material that was not necessary and actually damages the overall storyline because I doubt we see what happens to this boy unfold now the way it unfolded in the original material, assuming the television series even gets that far...I think it is a solid 50% chance it never finishes season two if it doesn't improve and improve fast. (Another Reaper which just made it through a second season but got worse with each episode) Lastly...it's not my intentions here to start a war with anybody watching this show and enjoying it. People used to enjoy the Sonny and Cher show too and I had no beef with them either, but I was just pointing out what I disliked about it and why I don't see myself watching any more of it. Anything that pulls me away from my own creative projects has to be justified for the down time. This just doesn't make the cut for me. If other people have more time than me and don't mind investing the hour each week by all means, do so. Have a good time. I will point out the Sonny and Cher Show should be available on dvd somewhere as well if you really just want to "waste" an hour. Sonny Bono would have made a great Rick....and Cher Lori for that matter. -------------------- "Reality is only for those who lack imagination" don't know who first said that....but it works for me!

Well, Bill, it did better than any other show in the history of AMC and beat all competition on opening night. Granted, that's not really telling of lasting appeal, but it's a strong indicator there was a ton of interest, so we'll see if they hold that.
I actually liked the scene with the tank. I wouldn't have minded the addition of the zombie wife save for the fact that she wasn't a great actor and didn't look as much like a zombie as she did confused or stoned... -------------------- |

Of course it did better than any other original series on AMC...it was the first show that I ever watched on AMC...the first show Frank ever watched on AMC...and probably the first show millions of people watched on AMC due to the appeal of the fact it was based on incredible comic book series. Which the focus is strong human emotions.
I get more human emotions from an episode of Pawn Stars then I got out of this show. Let's not forget.....Daybreak, Journey Man, even Heroes had great, well reviewed starts but fizzled very fast and I have no doubt million of zombies will tune in to watch this every week and it could be on the air longer than the Simpsons for all I know.....but there's 168 hours of television on every week that doesn't appeal to me and Walking Dead falls in that group , that's all I was saying and with that....I think I'm done. I don't want to be one those guys that pop in on conversation who is not reading or watching the show or book being discussed and just taking pot shots. I watched the first episode. Those were my thoughts. I'll leave it at that. -------------------- "Reality is only for those who lack imagination" don't know who first said that....but it works for me!

I liked it. Take that!
I'm excited to see where it goes. As far as staying true to the source material ... I don't care about that kind of thing anymore. Whenever a story goes from print to film ... something always changes. I'm not gonna be a big crybaby about it. -------------------- |

Very good actors all around I must say. And while I am sick of every portrayal of Kentuckians being the very heavy accented folk, I actually thought the actor playing Rick did a great job with his accent. Seeing as how I've lived in Kentucky for 28 years, I think that makes me a bit of an authority on the subject as well. When I was growing up, I thought everyone in Kentucky talked like Sam Guthrie of the New Mutants! $*#@% Claremont! -------------------- |

Loved last night's episode. The only real qualm I had with it is that I kind of hoped that each episode would end with something intense that wouldn't be resolved until the next episode. The issues that I've read thus far have done an excellent job at leaving a huge unresolved thread that makes you want to jump right into the next issue. Glenn hauling ass out of Atlanta having a great time didn't really leave me with that "I NEED to see the next episode right now!" feeling.

Aw, now that's just wrong, Dave. lol I kid! I kid! Haven't had a chance to watch the second episode yet, but as someone who hasn't read the books in quite some time, I still enjoyed it. By the way, not to change the subject, but I hope your feeling better Brant! -------------------- |

Thanks, Dave. Comes and goes. Today's an okay day.
I enjoyed the episode, but it still hasn't quite grabbed me. Though I'm noticing a lot of changes from the books now. It's basically the same material, but it's mixed around and changed a bit. At first this bothered me, but then, watching this with my brother, I realized because of it that he and I are watching something new together, so it made it okay. The changes make it a new experience. Though I have to say, even though my brother's an adult now, it was still awkward watching that scene with Shane and Lori at the beginning, for both of us. lol -------------------- |

alright i gotta say it...
i'm so freaking bored of this show. it's ridiculously slow paced and redundant - it's almost self-indulgent with the way it has the actors gnaw on each scene until it's officially too long and boring. the best part of the show is the zombie fx and it's only about 5 minutes out of each hour. other than that, in comic book terms - it's a bunch of talking heads the whole time. when i first read the first 40 or so issues of the walking dead (gave it up bc i felt it became far too slow-paced, similar to this show) it was a gripping and suspenseful story filled with a ton of character development as well as action and horror elements. this show honestly has none of that. it's about as soul-less as a zombie. -------------------- |

![]() Missing the Dead? The Walking Dead Season 1 Marathon Airs Fri., Mar. 4 What's the best way to unwind after a long, stressful week? A night on the town? A trip to the cineplex? Next week, skip the movie theater and let AMC usher in your weekend with six-and-a-half solid hours of post-apocalyptic zombie goodness. On Fri., Mar. 4 beginning at 8/7c, AMC will re-air all six episodes of The Walking Dead Season 1 back-to-back-to-back. Of course, after witnessing the horrors of the post-apocalypse (again), you might have trouble sleeping the rest of the weekend. But you can always catch up on sleep at work, right? ---------------------- What's the Most Memorable Walker Kill on the Walking Dead? Here Are Ten to Consider It's never easy taking a human life. Even if that human is just an undead version of his or her former self. Look at the toll it took on Rick Grimes and his fellow Walking Dead survivors who were forced to shoot, impale, and chop down endless walkers. But if you think killing ever becomes routine or that after awhile, none of the victims would stand out, you'd be wrong. Here are ten kills from Season 1 that neither the characters nor the audience will ever forget. 1. Rick Shoots the Little Girl "Don't be afraid," Rick tells the little girl in the opening scene of the pilot. Yet when she turns to reveal a torn left cheek dripping blood, Rick himself must face the fear and, once she charges him, put her down with a bullet. This kill is unforgettable for two reasons: 1. It dares to go where most zombie kills don't: little kid territory. 2. It sets the a merciless tone that the rest of the series then follows. 2. Morgan Shoots a Walker Point-Blank Morgan demonstrates slightly less hesitation when called upon to keep loved ones safe. After Duane, Morgan's son, nearly knocks Rick out with a shovel blow to the head, Morgan matter-of-factly place his gun behind a nearby walker's head and fires. The callousness of Morgan's kill shocks Rick. But for those in the know, Morgan's gunshot is a reality check. This world has new rules of survival. 3. Rick Beats Down a Walker in the Front Yard Rick demonstrates he's a quick learner when he squares off against one unlucky walker. Armed with a baseball bat, he emerges from Morgan's house to find a geek camping on the lawn. Striking repeated (and sickeningly loud) to his target's head, Rick vents recent frustrations -- along with any doubt that these things really are people too. 4. Rick Shoots His Deputy Returning to the police station to bathe and stock up, Rick encounters fellow deputy Leon Bassett, of whom, he admits, he "didn't think much." Still, making the decision to kill him cannot have been an easy one. One thing's for certain: Leon's slow collapse to the ground after being shot, his fingers helplessly gripping the chain-link fence, makes this one noteworthy walker death. 5. Morgan Takes Aim Sure, Morgan is no slouch when killing walkers at close range but he's also a crackerjack sniper. Hoping to lure his wife to her second death, Morgan takes down a number of walkers near his house with deadly accuracy. Sadly, his emotions get the best of him when his wife shows up. He can't kill her, which makes the previous shooting all the more powerful. 6. Rick Shoots Bicycle Girl Sometimes the most gruesome walker kill can also be the most compassionate. Such is the case with Bicycle Girl, who Rick first stumbles upon after leaving the hospital. With her sun-bleached skin, corroded face and skeletal legs, she's no threat to humanity. But Rick returns to put her of her misery. "I'm sorry this happened to you," he says before pulling the trigger. It's a moment of humanity in a world where that's hard to sustain. 7. Rick Kills a Walker With His Axe After smearing themselves with walker guts, Glenn and Rick make their way though a crowd of unsuspecting undead as the two make their way to cubevan they hope will be their getaway vehicle. When rain washes off the intestinal smell and the walkers take notice, Rick takes matter into his own hands. With one swift chop, he axes one walker's head in two and buys himself and Glenn time to escape. 8. Daryl Shoots a Walker Head in the Eye The walker munching on deer corpse exemplifies walker tenacity. Not only does he manage to trek from Atlanta, he also survives four humans beating him with shovels followed by decapitation. When the head lives on, Daryl fires an arrow into its eye. 9. Andrea Says Goodbye to Amy The most emotional kill so far comes when Andrea chooses to spend the final few tear-jerking minutes with her infected sister Amy instead of killing her immediately. Not until Amy turns does Andrea squeeze the trigger. She proves her toughness doing what even Morgan could not. Worse yet, she does it face-to-face. 10. Daryl's Final Walker Decapitation With all due respect to his crossbow, Darryl is just as proficient with an axe when it comes to eliminating walkers. As the survivors flee the self-destructing CDC, Daryl pauses only long enough to take a baseball-like swing at a walker, instantly decapitating it. And while walker heads have survived without bodies before, the ensuing explosion undoubtedly finished the job. Which Season 1 walker kill is most memorable for you? Vote in the poll here, then justify your reasoning in the comments section. -------------------- Chuck Moore

So.....Season 2 kicked off last night and it was AWESOME!!!!! I've read the books and knew that Carl got shot, but it was still such a startling thing that literally gasped when it happened. This show is just amazing and the different directions they've gone from the books have been brilliant and still true to the source material. I NEED more of this show.
