Last week’s update grabbed a lot of attention and we got some pretty amazing e-mail from some pretty impressive people praising us for our creative efforts thus far…thank you to everybody who contacted us.

And we at Twilight Star would like to say if you like what we’ve done so far…you ain’t seen nothing yet….

Last week’s update walked you up to Gem City….but was pretty vague about what we had planned after the April 3rd show…well let’s take care of that right now.

We wanted to have seven brand new books available at the Gem City show…we are only going to have six….one didn’t make it. And that’s this book. Tales From The ‘Field #2 (2nd printing)

To be honest…we could have gotten this book done as well but decided to save it for May.

This book will be released Saturday May 7th which just happens to be Free Comic Book Day…and we will be celebrating that event with our good friends at Super Fly Comics and Games in Yellow Springs Ohio.

Tales From The Field #2 (2nd printing) features a recolored version of the cover art…with colors done by Jonny Rizzo.

The Necrotrancer preview pages (Living Dead Girl) which first appeared in the original version of this book written and lettered by me and illustrated by Oscar Pena has been pulled seeing how Oscar Pena is no longer attached to this book. James Hill has taken over the Necrotrancer art chores and has been during a fabulous job at it. ( I snuck in yet another small sample of Mr. Hill’s pencils for Necrotrancer: Shades Of Gray in the very first post of the night)

The story replacing “Living Dead Girl” will be “Number 18” written by Tony Doug Wright.

Also gone from the original printing of the book are two pages of pin up art. These pages have been replaced with a two page story written and inked by yours truly , penciled by Gary “The Machine” Church and lettered by Stephen Brewington. The story is entitled “The Evil That Men Do”

This story fills in a few details left remaining from “A Matter Of Life And Death” which Gary and I along with Gary’s brother , Derron, worked on for the very first issue of Tales From The ‘Field. And the story continues in Tales From The ‘Field #5.

The second printing of Tales From The ‘Field #2 is not the only book that will be available on Free Comic Book Day…Ron Fortier’s Tales From The Macabre #1 is done as of today!

Issue #1 of this new ongoing series should also be on the table May 7th and the first issue of book features five stories…all written by Ron and featuring amazing art from the likes of Olivier Raymond, Mark Saxton , Kevin Adkins, Chris Metzger, Chris Hoskins , and Jeremy McHough

The stories in question here will be….The Diner, Grass Roots, Dragnet, Bomb Sight, and Catching The Bus. Olivier Raymond just finished Bomb Sight earlier today.

Originally Catching The Bus was going to be the only story in this book that had not been ran in another Twilight Star book….but things have changed. Bomb Sight and Grass Roots will be running for the very first time anywhere in this book and will only appear in this book. Both was supposed to have been ran in Tales From The ‘Field #4 first, but seeing how this book is ready to go, and we have so much other stuff that needs to be printed we’re making way for those stories in TFTF #4 and running these two stories first and only in RFTOTM.

And…..we’re still celebrating Free Comic Book Day in true Twilight Star fashion as Twilight Star Annual #1 (this book is also already finished and ready to go) will be debuting at our Free Comic Book Day visit at Super-Fly.

And this book is F-R-E-E-----FREE. Hey it’s FREE COMIC BOOK DAY…..you got to walk away with something cool and free in your hands, right!

Hell Yeah! And we plan to have a new Twilight Star Annual out every year on Free Comic Book Day….get them while you have a chance!

Last but not least there’s a VERY good possibility that WTF? #1 will also be ready and can be bought by Free Comic Book Day as well!!!! That’s FOUR BRAND NEW BOOKS on the same day…at SUPER FLY COMICS!!!

WTF?#1 is a Frank Raynor book…the main story is written by Frank and penciled by Gary “ leadslinger” Church. Tim Hagans has done the concept art for the four main characters of this first story and I think he’s inking it as well.

The second story is going to be a Three Wise Men adventure and this thing is going to have to be seen to be believed as Frank with a little help from me provides the story and Dan Mathews does the PHOTOGRAPHY….this will be lettered by Stephen Brewington.

I’m going to try and nab the cover chores for this book and it may feature a piece of pin up art from me as well.

An interesting side note about this book…as if the pace of which we produce books at the studio wasn’t already pretty damn amazing…there was a bet made between the Brothers Church at our last meeting about who finishes the current books they are working on first…

Gary on WTF?#1…..versus Derron on Un-Naturals #1

Look out!!!

Moving on….after May the next book out the door will be Necrotrancer: Shades Of Gray.
Joe Pruitt has started inking the finished pencil pages supplied by James Hill and things are really looking good so far

Necrotrancer: Shades Of Gray will be lettered by Cary Kelley.

(Joe is also currently working on page #9 of the Bumtastic Four…as soon as he finishes page #12 this web comic is set to launch) and he’s currently working on Brit and Ivy #1 as well. This guy likes to stay busy.

After Necrotrancer: Shades Of Gray the next book after that will be the much anticipated Un-Naturals #1. Written and inked by that Bill guy, penciled by Derron “Dirt” Church and also lettered by Cary Kelley (we keep Cary on the weird stuff that would make other letterers scream with fright)

Derron will be providing the pencils for the cover as well, with inks by Joe “Dr. Octopus” Pruitt and colors by Lisa “Suck Gas Evildoers!” Moore.

Following that release will be Jack The Rabbit #2

And the next book on the schedule….Pandemonium Spotlight # 3

This is the finished cover for the book.

Cover art provided by Ian Mayday with colors by Stephen Brewington.

The final line up for the stories in PS# 3 will be (perhaps not in this order)

True Love-written, illustrated, and lettered by Victor “Goin’ to California” Moya.
The Lam (featuring Kevin Adkins’ “The Crook” ) written and illustrated by Kevin and lettered by Stephen Brewington.
Element Of Darkness-written by me, illustrated and Victor Moya
Jersey Devil-written and lettered by Brant Fowler with art by Kevin Adkins
Blue Morning-Story by your favorite “ghost writer” with art and letters by Brant Fowler.
Deer Hunter-written by Josh Brown

Issue # 4 of Pandemonium Spotlight will see some BIG changes in the book as two new features will debut and appear in each issue after this. Both of these features will alternate covers much like the old Marvel Comics “Strange Tales” or “Tales Of Suspense” these two new regular features will be a new ongoing THE CROOK serial by Kevin Adkins and Hell Rider written by me, inked by Tim Hagans and with an artist yet to be announced.

Also in issue #4 of the series….also written by me with a SURPRISE ARTIST "Denial"….and If Thy Hand Offends Thee by Gladman and Strohl.

Next book out the gate would be Tales From The ‘Field #4-featuring a brand new Legacy story from Derron Church…a brand new G-Code story by Gary Church….The Spell written by Josh Brown five page preview of Metal Heart by Gladman/Adkins/Brewington….and Frank DOES NOT have the feature story in this one…and I’m keeping that story under wraps for now.

Looking down the road a bit…..The Champion City Twilight Star Attack!

Prodigy #2-Gladman/Pruitt/Brewington/Pena/Strohl
Tales From The ‘Field #5-new feature story by Bill Gladman and Gary Church…and much more
Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #2
Price For The Asking #2
Lost Grooves

Bumtastic Four #1 at the Twilight Star 2nd anniversary bash at Super Fly..

And hopefully before the end of the year…

Metal Heart #1
Prodigy #3
Jack The Rabbit #3
Un-Naturals #2

But talking about Twilight Star is never over!

Check out the 2nd Year Anniversary episode of Zone 4

The show airs here on Comic Related Friday evening (March 18th) and I was invited on the show to talk about ….Twilight Star. I jumped at the chance.

Also in the works is an interview with Andy McGinn for the Springfield News Sun which is set to see print right before Gem City

I’m sure Twilight Star will pop up in an interview with writer Tony Doug Wright while he’s in Springfield Saturday March 26th.

And don’t miss the Twilight Star panel at Gem City…it’s the first panel of the day and it will be hosted by either Brant Fowler….or Michael Boruff of Underground Video Network’s ‘Behind The Counter”…or possibly both!

The panel takes place day of show from 12:00-12:50

And scheduled to be recorded by both U.V.N and Comic Related.

Sneak peek department before I head to the last post of the night….the first page of The Scarecrow Scares which will appear in Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #3.

I shared the pencil version by Jesus Marquez last week…this week it’s the same page but this time inked by Luis Alonso.

Enjoy!!!

(Second page looks even better!!!! But you don't see that one until the book comes out-sorry)

Last post of the night and it’s all about GEM CITY now just THREE WEEKS AWAY!!!!

Latest info I wanted to share with you about the show includes….instead of an actual two page preview of Hero Of The Day in the program guide we will be having a high gloss insert in the program that will feature the same two pages originally planned …front and back.

About 1,000 of these….and a few at the table as well.

And after the show is over you can use these inserts as book marks, or just keep them as mementos…pretty cool! All thanks to Jesse Noble who came up with this amazing idea.

We will also have new Twilight Star t-shirts available in various sizes. This time around not just in black but in blue and green as well as black-Hell Yeah!

Also….here’s a tentative schedule to when the various creators of Twilight Star Studios will be at our table.

10:00-11:30-Bill, Frank, and Chad Strohl will be at the table. The creators of the Gem City exclusive original graphic novel-Did Somebody Call For A Hero: Hero Of The Day

11:30-1:00-The Twilight Star support team covers the table while all the creators are in the creative panel mentioned earlier. Panel is 12:00-12:50

1:00-3:00-Twilight Star founders…The Brothers Church ..both Derron and Gary along with THE CROOK creator, writer, and artist-Kevin Adkins!!!

3:00-5:00-Double Twilight Star duty as creators Tim Hagans and Joe Pruitt will be at the table with possibly either Chris Metzger or Brant Fowler…while Bill , Frank, and Raichal host the charity auction!

All Twilight Star creators will be doing commission art all day. On collectable Twilight Star art pages that insert into all our pre-bagged books! $5.00 per illustration….only $3.00 if you purchase a book as well. Get you favorite Twilight Star character with a signed sketch….great deal!

All books will be back and boarded…and each book comes with a free trading card. Just want the trading cards? Buy the entire set for just a buck!

Make sure to drop by the table while Kevin is there to talk to him about our “playable” Twilight Star Hero Clix figures.

Also …books , books, books, six new releases….20 titles. Rare collectable issues.

Free Jack the Rabbit ashcan copies, as well as free The Cowboy, The Kid, and The Samurai ash cans and free book marks while supplies last.

Brand new full color posters!

Color prints-only $1.00

Black and white prints-3 for a buck!!!

Okay-The Twilight Star website is up and active.

Kinda-

At the moment Brant and I are working to make the Twilight Star web site as unique and as exciting as the books that we produce....in the meantime....if you hit the site www.twilightstarstudios.com

You will automatically be redirected to the very beginning of this post. This forum thread gets about 1,500 hits each month...somewhere between 300 to 500 hits a week and has since it first went active back in August 2010.

For those of you that read the updates each and every week as they went up....not a whole lot of anything new waiting for you if you hit the website at the moment....but seeing how Gem City Comic Con is JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY...and we will be be very actively promoting the website at the show which will be the largest convention appearance we have made since the studio was formed in October 2009.....Brant and I thought it would be wise to have something available at the site for all the new found Twilight Star faithful followers just waiting to join the readers , friends, fans, and comic outlets that already support us.

If you are one of those new people just now learning about the website and discovering Twilight Star....WELCOME TO THE SHOW!!!!

You've made it through all the old news and everything from this point is brand spanking new!!!

THIS IS LIFE INSIDE THE ELECTRIC CIRCUS!!!!

Hell Yeah!

Where's the updates?

Well....first it was preparing for Gem City that was holding these up....and then the newspaper article ran last Friday...and Gem City was finally here last Sunday.....and since the article and the show...it has been non-stop!

Books are selling like crazy....sold 32 books at the show...sold six books a day (just me) everyday since the show...and there's so much news....I don't have an idea where to start.

So I'm not going to start...I'm getting back to work....and "maybe" next week I'll have a minute or two to post something...or hire somebody to post things for me.

Have you ever heard that expression “be careful what you wish for”? Well…after the last few weeks I have come to the conclusion I am going to get that expression tattooed across my ass. That expression now haunts me on a daily basis.

What am I talking about? I know you’re asking that right now. That is after getting over the shock that there is actually a new Hell Yeah forum post after almost a month. Here’s what I’m talking about. When Gary Church, Derron Church, Frank Raynor and I gathered for the very first time at Gary’s house and decided to form Twilight Star Studios I never dreamed it would have become this successful.

We wanted this…and still want much more….no one is going to deny that but after an excellent article in the local paper, a very successful convention appearance, a guest panel that also ran in recorded audio and video formats, and extended interview coverage on my Diary Of A Gladman blogspot….I’ve been crushed.

Record sales….that have slowed slightly but are still much better than before all this incredible attention. Several people have contacted us about writing or drawing for the studio…most did not work out for various reasons….and we still have to meet with the last person of interest May 1st but we did pick up another writer and another artist who also writes.

Phone calls….e-mails, e-mails, and more e-mails. On an average day 64 e-mails, all with their own varying sense of urgency ,await we each day when I get home from work. On a slow night I might get lucky and there may only be 18-24 e-mails…and it has peaked to the point 112 new e-mails in one day.

I’m not ready for this. To be honest I never asked for this. Going back to that night when Gary, Derron, Frank, and I first formed this studio I never wanted to be “the leader”, “the face man”, “the go to guy”….whatever people call me. I understand every band has to have a lead singer or each football team needs a quarterback…but all I really wanted was a chance to get the stuff I write and draw out there.

I spend more and more of my time….now close to 30 hours a week working on “Twilight Star stuff” including two times in the last two weeks when counting the day job I was up for over 24 hours. None of this time am I writing stories or manage to pick up a pencil or a pen. I admit that’s frustrating. Twilight Star has appeared at three major events since we were formed in late 2009….I have never had the opportunity to set down at the table as a “creator” at any of these events. And neither has Frank Raynor. Which is a shame for more than one reason. I’m not complaining about the sales at any of these events….but Frank and I are definite “salespeople” and I believe we could have added to the sells figures, easily.

I believe Frank could sell “donkey show” videos to the Pope.

And I don’t really know how it came to this. I mean somebody has to do the stuff I do. That’s very true. But I don’t remember volunteering for the “quarterback” position. I don’t know if I just started doing it because somebody had to…and I just ended up doing more and more of it. Maybe it’s because I’ve done this type of thing before for Zonetrooper Magazine or my old band Violent Whisper….maybe everybody thinks I’m good at it ( but that doesn’t keep them from being very vocal when things don’t go the way I think it should or I handle things differently then they would have). And seeing how I do end up doing all of this that is exactly why I have taken to using the title Executive Editor of Twilight Star Studios. I have taken grief over using that title…but what else do you call the guy doing all the press contacts, arranging the in store appearances, planning the meetings, overseeing production and distribution, and being the contact person with the printers? And somebody else catches a typo in a book….and asks me about it. I’m not a copy/type sort of editor…I’m more of a production marketing guy. (we are developing a copy editor and it’s not me….Hell Yeah!!!!!). Because so much stuff goes past me so fast it’s all a blur…the word “cat” could be missing the “C” and the “A” and I probably wouldn’t notice. Once again I’d rather be writing Un-Naturals #2 or penciling Prodigy #2…..but here I am.

Staring at the drawing table and the ever growing to do list taped on the wall above the computer.

BUT…..I have to admit if not for the efforts of Steve Brewington, Frank Raynor, Gary Church, Joe Pruitt, Chad Strohl, and Dan Matthews…all of whom have helped me tremendously on several matters of mind melting stress I think I would have cracked a long time ago. THANK YOU to all of you guys…..and everybody else working with the studio who despite their own time demands, family lives, and day jobs still find the time to be creative and continue to turn in great work.

And with that….I’m done ranting…..let’s get on with the updates. Yeah….I know its Saturday afternoon but I actually had time to kill (the wife’s at work in the oldest granddaughter will be spending the night tonight….so I have just enough time to do something but not enough to get involved with a major project.)

So here you go…a Hell Yeah Twilight Star update…please enjoy it. Because the days of me finding the time to do one of these once a week are long gone. And this one is going to be a little short on the usual bells and whistles.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY-creators from Twilight Star will be appearing at four different comic shops in the area…I believe at this moment Chad Strohl will be appearing at Pack Rat Comics in Hilliard Ohio, Joe Pruitt will be appearing at Comic Towne on Morse Rd…in Columbus Ohio, Kevin Adkins will be at Super Fly Comics in Yellow Springs Ohio and Tim Hagans, Frank Raynor, and myself along with a brief appearance by Gary Church will be at Main Street Comics And Games here in Springfield Ohio. (possibly more members at Main Street and Super Fly….one of the advantages of having such a big studio…we can definitely “divide and conquer”)

We will be passing out FREE COMICS at both the Main Street and Super Fly stores while supplies last. (A FREE COPY of Brit And Ivy: The Collected Edition for the younger crowd and a FREE COPY of Twilight Star Annual #1 for the older comic book die hards) Joe will be passing out Jack The Rabbit ashcans at Comic Towne also while supplies last.

Due to delays in production Tales From The Field #2 (2nd printing) and Ron Fortier’s Tales From The Macabre #1 will not be available on Free Comic Book Day but hopefully both books will still be released in May. (more on this later)

OTHER AREA APPEARANCES:
Super Fly Comics And Games-Yellow Springs Ohio-Saturday June 11th as part of Yellow Springs Street Fair 2011-creators TBA
World’s Greatest Comics-Westerville Ohio-late June-details to be finalized
Bell Book And Comic-Dayton Ohio-early July-details to be finalized
Derby City Con-Louisville Kentucky-Saturday July 16th. –creators at this show will be Kevin Adkins, Chad Strohl, Joe Pruitt, and Gary Church
Pack Rat Comics-Hilliard Ohio-August-details to be finalized
Champion City Comic Con-Springfield Ohio-Saturday September 10th-creators….the whole freakin’ studio
Twilight Star 2nd Anniversary Celebration-October 22nd-location TBA

ANOTHER PART OF THE THREE YEAR PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!!
As mentioned in the News-Sun interview (The Director’s Cut...which will continue to run in segments over on the Diary Of A Gladman blog)….at the Twilight Star panel at Gem City 2011 and recently on the Zone 4 podcast one of the goals we wanted to achieve at Twilight Star in the “three year plan” is to get a “hub” in eleven area comic stores. When I say “hub” I’m talking about a six foot tall, full color cardboard stand up of our mascot the “Nectimidar” and a spinner rack (both the spinner rack and the stand up will be provided by the studio) in all eleven of the shops on our “short list”

This spinner rack will contain at least five copies of each book the studio has produced. Each pre-bagged and with a custom backing board, trading card, and business card. There will be a unbagged copy of each book in front of the bagged books for the customers to actually look through….and one unbagged book of a “certain title” will only be able to be viewed by asking for it and verifying that the customer is 18 years old or older.

This establishes a Twilight Star “section” that clearly stands out at each shop interested in this idea. A unique opportunity for each of these stores and an advantageous selling point for the studio itself.

I’m happy to say….one of these store’s is about to be marked off the target list….the first Twilight Star “hub” should be a reality before the end of May. Which store is it? I’m keeping that under wraps for now because the owner has a special announcement he will be making the first week of May…..and then I’ll make it official here. But I’ll give you a hint.

I can walk to it from my house.

PRINTER CHANGES
Not going into a lot of details here…but we will be changing printers. There were several problems with the printer we were using which resulted in shortages of books, being charged for books we did not receive…and a serious lack of communication on their end. So we will start using Rinks Printing out of South Bend Indiana starting with our very next book (Twilight Star Annual #1…which will be one of our Free Comic Book Day books)

COMP COPIES
Just wanted to let all the creators entitled to comp copies of books that they worked on…THOSE BOOKS ARE COMING. A few delays here…allow me to explain.

1st-as mentioned above we didn’t get the exact number of books that were supposed to get from the printer…and in some cases we didn’t even get ANY books although they were paid for. As soon as these details are hopefully and finally worked out I can get some comp copies in the mail. I will also be contacting each creator that has worked on these books to verify mailing information.

2nd-my work schedule on the day job has also kept me from making it to the post office to get these books in the mail….hopefully that changes in the next few weeks.

3rd-Twilight Star budget. We spent every cent we had getting ready for the Gem City show…now money is starting to come back in…it’s very hand to mouth. But I do have the funds, thanks to great sales of these books, to get the first wave of comp books in the mail…which would include the following creators for which the books they worked on did come in and are in stock.

Oscar Pena
James Hill
Stephen Brewington
Lisa Moore
Brain Latimer (one of the books he worked on did come in)
Tony Doug Wright
Victor Moya
Brant Fowler

Still working on

Ron Fortier (Dragnet in Tales From The Field #3-Ron e-mail me about this.)
Sam Johnson (Pandemonium Spotlight #2 was short shipment wise)
Chris Hoskins (Price For The Asking #1 the book that has been paid for but is still missing in action….for three weeks now)
Jonny Rizzo- (Hero Of The Day was flawed…I would rather you get copies without these flaws)

TRADING CARDS
Currently in talks to create Twilight Star Trading Card Set with Darren Mueller. Cards would feature Twilight Star characters as well as cover art from our books. More details about this as they continue to develop.

PRINT RUNS
It looks like that once we print 400 copies of each book…..we’re done printing that book. Once every issue of that print run is finished. You will never be able to buy a copy of that book again.

Ever.

So you better grab up these books while you still have a chance!

Tales From The ‘Field #1-this book is done! After every issue of current stock is gone…they’re gone for good! Grab one today!

Tales From The ‘Field #2-we are about to order another 150 copies of this book…that finishes the 400 copy print run for that book as well.

Pandemonium Spotlight #1-after the current stock of this book sells out….it’s gone for good.

MORE GREAT SALES NEWS

Tales From The ‘Field #3 (which everybody at Twilight Star considers our strongest book to date) sold out at Gem City! That means every issue we brought to that show sold. Copies of that book are still available though.

Brit And Ivy Collected Edition-sold out at Gem City. More copies of this book has already been ordered.

Prodigy #1 has sold out for the second time!!! A customer came by the house last Thursday and bought one of every book we’ve produced so far….a $45.00 sale! That included the last copy of Prodigy #1. This book will soon be going back to the printer (for the third time) but it will no longer have the same back cover…the books from the first two print runs had the alternate cover for issue #1 by Oscar Pena on the back printed in black and white. If you have a copy of that version…hang on to it!

And don’t worry….these books print in smaller print runs than Tales From The ‘Field so they won’t be reaching 400 copies for a little while yet.

People wanting a copy of Pandemonium Spotlight #1 went through the roof after the local paper quoted the opening line of the book written by the infamous Dustin Carson. The same article featured a fill page of story and art from N.I.B, another story in the same book.

Demand for Pandemonium Spotlight #2 has been very high as well seeing how the cover of that book ran as a full page in the paper. Unfortunately this book is one of the books that was under-shipped...and will need to go back to print. Already.

WEBSITE UPDATE
Both Brant and I have been extremely busy the last few weeks so progress on getting the website up and active has stalled. Part of the problem here is also I have “scrapped” everything I’ve come up for as far as the site is concerned twice already….really want this thing to be something special, unique, as well as full of information as well as being entertaining and easy to navigate.

I am enjoying seeing the faces of all the creators we work with across the nation and even the world as creators send in photos for our creator bio section of the website.

GEM CITY PARTNERSHIP
Starting with our very next book that goes to print, every book we produce will contain a full page ad for Gem City Comic Con 2012 on the back inside cover. Working with Jesse Noble the organizer of that show on this…which becomes a two year show next year…. this deal comes with perks for Gem City and Twilight Star. The ads will run through the end of this year and quite possibly up until Gem City 2012 early next year.

The ads in typical Gem City/ Twilight Star fashion read…

Gem City Comic Con 2012
March 31st-April 1st
No Joke!

HELL YEAH!!!!

That pretty much says it all

STACY GASTON COMES TO TWILIGHT STAR!!!!!
Stacy is just about the last local creator in Springfield Ohio not associated with Twilight Star. Or at least he was until as of last Sunday. Stacy attended our regular meeting after reading about the studio in the paper. He was very impressed (with the article and later the meeting) and decided to join.

Immediately.

Stacy is an incredible artist who also writes. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Stacy a couple of times in the past. We were both members of Dragonsound Studios (ran by mutual friend and mentor Darrel Buffington)…although we were never really members at the same time.

Stacy and I also worked together on Zonetrooper Magazine…where he and I along with Joe Shover…the true man behind all things Zonetrooper made several appearances at local comic shops supporting Zonetrooper Magazine and the Zonetrooper website.

Every since Twilight Star was formed I wanted Stacy involved and I’m very excited he finally is. Stacy is the writer and artist for a magna style comic entitled Cygann…and already has five issues of this book in the can. This series will soon be available through Twilight Star.

Stacy will also be working with writer Raichal Gladman on the feature story for Tales From The ‘Field #4 and will be working on an ongoing five page serial written by Gary Church….entitled Kane.

PRODUCTION NOTES

Here’s the complete list of current books in production from Twilight Star

Twilight Star Annual #1-available Free Comic Book Day-featuring story and art by-Derron Church, Lisa Moore, Rick Berry, Stephen Brewington, Bill Gladman, Chris Metzger, BJay Johnson, Frank Raynor, Gary Church, and Brant Fowler. Finalizing front and inside covers…will be going to print Tuesday. (fingers crossed)

Price For The Asking #1-this book has already been paid for…hopefully it shows up….one day soon. If not I guess we pay for it a second time and run it through our new printer…..I can feel my hair turning gray….Gladman/Fortier/Latimer/Hoskins/Fowler/Hagans

Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #1-already on local file pulls before it’s available for sale! Waiting for the lettering on the final story and this book is done!

Tales From The ‘Field #2 (2nd printing)-The brand new story “The Evil That Men Do” available only in this 2nd printing is currently being inked and then needs to be lettered and then this book is off to the printer.

Un-Naturals #1-the next two pages of pencil art is waiting to be inked. Pencil art for the book also continues.

WTF? #1-pencil art for this book is about to start. Written by Frank Raynor…penciled by Gary Church…possibly inked by Tim Hagans. Also includes other back up stories by various creators.

Necrotrancer: Shades Of Gray-inking on the finished pencils of this book continues

Young And Wasted-saw the first twenty pages of the pencil art for this book at Gem City. Looks amazing! Artist Chris Martin has done an incredible job. He is waiting for an additional 5 pages of story (from me) to finish this up and then it’s on to the inking and lettering. For readers 18 years old or older…only. Chris and I had a discussion about another adults only book at that show. I never thought I would write something like this…let alone write something ELSE like this…but if Chris gives me the high quality art he’s bringing me for Young And Wasted to another project there’s only one thing I can say to another possible project with Chris Martin…..HELL YEAH!!!!!!!

Bumtastic Four #1-this will of course appear as a web comic on the Twilight Star web site first before being collected into a full color comic later this year. Joe Pruitt is starting the pencil art for page #10. Jonny Rizzo is coloring the earlier pages.

Jack The Rabbit #2-four more pages of pencils and inks and this book is done! Hope to get it lettered and available by July 10th…Ronnie James Dio’s birthday….

Pandemonium Spotlight #3-cover by Ian Maday. Stories and art by Bill Gladman, Victor Moya, Josh Brown, Brant Fowler, and Kevin Adkins.

Tales From The ‘Field #4-five page preview of Metal Heart by Bill Gladman and Kevin Adkins. Brand new Legacy story by Derron Church….brand new G-Code story by Gary Church and Tim Hagans, more Josh Brown, and a feature story by Raichal Gladman and Stacy Gaston!!!!

Prodigy #2-Joe Pruitt and Steve Brewington join Bill Gladman on the creative team on this popular Twilight Star series

Cygann#1-written and illustrated by Stacy Gaston!!!

One Night In Chicago-Twilight Star’s first crossover teams Necrotrancer with Cybercat and Zodiac….written by Bill Gladman and Tim Hagans with Tim also inking the book. Regular Necrotrancer artist J.D. Hill is doing the pencils. Hopefully available at Champion City. Script heading to Mr. Hill very soon.

Price For The Asking #2-who knows this book might actually be own sale before issue #1!!!! Fortier/Gladman/Davis/Farfan/Fowler-hopefully available at Champion City

Lost Grooves-Chad Lambert in the house! Available at Champion City!!!

Ron Fortier’s Tales Of The Macabre #2-cover art by Olivier Raymond!!!! Hopefully available by Champion City.

Tales From The ‘Field #5-cover art by Gary Church and Bill Gladman. New Legacy by Derron Church….feature story by Bill Gladman and Gary Church and much more!!! Hopefully available by Champion City.

Cygann #2-The Champion City invasion continues! By Stacy Gaston.

Did Somebody Call For A Hero: Hero Of The Day-let’s just say I wasn’t pleased with the way this book came out…so I hope to have it done a second time…this time full comic size, in full color , and without the damn printing flaws…..available at Champion City Comic Con?

Un-Naturals Source Book-2nd printing-new colored cover by Lisa Moore!! Champion City???

And for the Twilight Star 2nd Anniversary---

Pandemonium Spotlight #4-cover art and pencils on the feature story (Denial) by Ian Maday!!! Plus Brant Fowler, Gary Church, Josh Brown, and Chad Strohl!!!

Cygann #3-Stacy Gaston

Metal Heart #1-new series by Gladman and Adkins

Possibly before the end of 2011

Jack The Rabbit #3-the limited series concludes

Prodigy #3

Cygann #4

If we’re able to pull that off that will be 36 books in one year…three times as much as 2010 and I personally don’t think we can produce more than that in a 365 day period…but who knows?

What good are 11 Twilight Star hubs in 11 comic shops without books to put on them…..

2012 will be the third year of the plan…..will the light at the end of the tunnel be the dawn of a new day for the creators involved with this studio….or The Twilight Star? (there you go ...you want hidden meaning...there's some hidden meaning for you)

Time will tell…..

Guess what? Another update...and I didn't think I would be able to sneak one in this week, but here it is! But it will be short and sweet.

First off.....we're gearing up for Free Comic Book Day Saturday May 7th.....several Twilight Star Studio members will be appearing at several comic shops in the Springfield , Dayton, Columbus Ohio areas!

Stop by Pack Rat Comics in Hilliard Ohio where Chad Strohl will have a table. I think....this one is a bit non-confirmed. I know Chad has been asked and I also know he was thinking about going, and knowing Chad he doesn't turn these type of opportunities down.

Joe Pruitt will be further into the Columbus area at Comic Towne on Morse Road...actually on the east side of Columbus.

Kevin Adkins will be appearing at Super Fly Comics and Games in Yellow Springs Ohio

Frank Raynor, Tim Hagans, and myself and perhaps a few more studio members will be at Main Street Comics And Games that same day with all of the Twilight Star Road Show bells and whistles as we help store owner Scott Riley celebrate not only Free Comic Book Day but the grand re-opening of Main Street Comics And Games at it's new and much larger location!

We will be passing out two free comics while supplies last.

Brit And Ivy Collected Edition by Joe Pruitt for the younger comic fans wanting to try something with more of an "indy" feel to it.....

....and we will be offering a brand new book hot of the presses that same day. Twilight Star Annual #1

This is not the final cover to what will be our SECOND FREE comic book we will be passing out that day, but it is very close. We did make a few changes right before this book went to the printer. Twilight Star Annual #1 will be aimed at an older comic collecting audience.....and is more or less a "Best Of Twilight Star" to this point. Plans are to have a new free issue of Twilight Star Annual every year from this point on....each book collecting some of the best (if not all the best) stories from our two anthology series Tales From The 'Field and Pandemonium Spotlight.

Twilight Star Annual #1 features five stories, something from Tales From The 'Field #1,2 and 3 as well as the feature story from Pandemonium Spotlight #1....a total of five stories in one book....all yours as a Twilight Star sampler of sorts...for absolutely nothing!

What stories do you get....Legacy Part One-Three written and illustrated by Derron Church with letters by Lisa Moore, Rick Berry, and Stephen Brewington (in that order)

N.I.B-written by the G-Man himself, illustrated by Chris Metzger and lettered by BJay Johnson

and.....Perfect Day-written by Frank Raynor, penciled by Gary Church, inked by ....me....and lettered by Brant Fowler.

The actual cover will feature artwork from Gary Church, Derron Church, and Dan Matthews.

Five stories...ten comic creators....no money needed.
Priceless.

Wait a minute? Did somebody say something about.....price? Well.....the much delayed Price For The Asking #1 by Bill Gladman/Ron Fortier/Brian Latimer/Chris Hoskins/Brant Fowler/Tim Hagans should be debuting Free Comic Book Day as well...at long last.

Price for The Asking #1 will not be a free book but will be on sale at the Main Street Comics And Games store only.

Twilight Star Annual #1 will be available at Main Street Comics And Games and Super Fly Comics And Games....not sure if this book will be available at the other locations. Demand for the book will be high at both Main Street and Super Fly...that is where most Twilight Star books are sold.....but don't rule at the possibility we manage to split the shipment four ways.

Thankfully we have changed printers.....again. And hopefully we are done with changing printers for the foreseeable future. That is why we are finally getting Price for The Asking #1 out for Free Comic Book Day . I have a good feeling about these guys.

Also of note.....new copies of Prodigy #1 will be available at Main Street Comics And Games Free Comic Book Day as well....

...this book recently sold out for the second time and once again...thanks to the printing options of the printer we are now using we can get this book printed and back out there three times faster then it would have taken with the printer we were using.

Oh....a final note about Twilight Star Annual #1...it will be the first book off the presses running this ad on the back inside cover....

Except for two books that were already formatted prior to a deal made between Twilight Star and Gem City Comic Con (those two books being Price for The Asking #1 and Ron Fortier's Tales Of The Macabre #1) all Twilight Star books being published through the Springfield branch of the studio will be running this ad until the end of 2011.....if not longer.

And speaking of Ron Fortier's Tales Of The Macabre #1.....

the book is done as of today and all final formatting will be completed within days....this book was supposed to be released on Free Comic Book Day as well.....but some production snags and the fact we have to flip our production budget again with the latest wave of new books it will be coming out later in May.....along with the second printing of Tales From The 'Field #2.

After these two books are finally out look for....
Jack The Rabbit #2
Necrotrancer:Shades Of Gray
Cygann #1
WTF? #1
Young And Wasted
Un-Naturals #1

.....pretty much in that order....going to be a busy year at the studio that never sleeps!

That's it this week.....who knows I might stop back in next week if time allows!

Twilight Star
Hell Yeah!!!

Okay....

I've been busy.

Busy with life.
Busy with work.

Making up for the fact that for the first year and a half I have been driving like a maniac with my foot on the floor and my hands on the wheel as the Twilight Star muscle car ripped down the highway......

Now that two horned gas hog is on cruise control and I'm taking in the scenery....and sliding over in the passenger seat. I've riding shotgun for a while.

Who climbs in behind the wheel now. I'm sure several of my fellow studio members will be taking turns...matter of fact a few of the guys are doing shows now....without the G-man in attendance. Imagine that. And doing a fine job.

Gary Church, Chad Strohl, Kevin Adkins and Joe Pruitt just had a great time at Derby City this past weekend. Ron Fortier's Tales Of The Macabre #1 was the best selling book at the table and joins other books such as Tales From The 'Field #1, Pandemonium Spotlight #1, Tales From The 'Field #3, and Price For The Asking #1 as one of our top five all time sellers so far.

And although we may have slowed things down a bit....we will never stop. A new crop of books are in production right now....look for new releases in August and several more at Champion City in September....and even more at our 2nd year celebration/anniversary party that will be Oct 15th at Main Street Comics And Games in Springfield Ohio.

Short and sweet...and on the run.

See you soon...

and remember.....a good Hell Yeah never hurts anybody!

The studio had it's best day ever this past weekend at Champion City Comic Con in Springfield Ohio!!!! Beating the previous best day for us which was Champion City 2010. (something can be said about the the home 'Field advantage I guess)

Our books were available at seven different tables thanks to the fact that various creators throughout the show had worked on books with us and had them available to sell.

Over 45 copies of one of our newest releases (Pandemonium Spotlight # 3) sold!!! We printed 65 copies of this book...and boy did it go fast!!!

The book featured cover art by Robin Humer, Scott Riley, and Lisa Moore (seen above) and contained "Butterfly Girl" as the feature story written by Dustin Carson and illustrated by Robin and Scott.

Other stories in the book include "Jersey Devil" by Brant Fowler and Kevin Adkins, "Deadline" by Ron Fortier and Rob Davis, "If Thy Hand Offends Thee" by Bill Gladman and Chad Strohl and a preview of "Crossing Pon's Bridge" by Raichal Gladman and Stacy Gatson.

Other items that sold extremely well at the show....

Pandemonium Spotlight Annual #1
Did Somebody Call For A Hero : Hero Of The Day (2nd printing-sold out)
New Twilight Star t-shirts designed by Dan Matthews (sold out)
Butterfly Girl prints (sold out)
Hero For The Day Prints
Nectimidar Prints
Tales From The 'Field #2 (2nd printing)
Price For The Asking #1
Prodigy #1
Necrotrancer Sketchbook
Pandemonium Spotlight #1
Pandemonium Spotlight #2
Tales From The 'Field #3
Ron Fortier's Tales Of The Macabre #1
Prints by Kevin Adkins
Prints by Darrel Buffington and Oscar Pena

Over half the money raised at the charity auction was made by art donations from Joe Pruitt
Other items that raised a lot of money for the cause included

Punisher #1 with sketch variant cover and art by Dan Matthews
Ghost Rider #1 with sketch variant art by Gary Church and Stacy Gaston
The original cover art for Price For The Asking #1 by Brian Latimer and the original art for the last three pages of the same book by Brian Latimer and Tim Hagans
Copies of the first ten books published by Twilight Star
Art prints by Gary Church, Derron Church, and Bill Gladman
