I just wanted to jump in and say how GREAT of a time I had at Champion City, yesterday -- you guys put on one helluva show!! Last year's show was the beginnings of my Great Stride year, where due to fan interest and creator camaraderie, I felt a significant push to take my own comic book making to new heights. I've spent this last year really testing myself productively and creatively, gaining a swell of confidence along the way. Yesterday's show was the capper of that year and I can say that I'm far more prepared and engendered to leave behind my part-time creating for fulltime glory. And its because of the love and support from my friends/family most of whom were present both this year and last. I love you all and thanks again for such an AWESOME TIME!!!!

Personally, Victor it's creators like you that make this show the success it has been these last two years.

Thank you very much for your part in making the entire show, and especially that incredible costume contest....so memorable.

But when a guy proposes to his girlfriend at the show, while in costume....WOW!!!!!!

More comments and tons of photos to follow....but that nine hours of sleep last felt so good....I'm going back for seconds.

Great seeing you there, Victor! Hope you can do dinner with us next time.

BTW, I have posted my pictures from the show on my Facebook page, and most of them will also be posted here at Comic Related as the guys determine what they will run when (I sent Chuck and Brant 8 e-mails of pictures).

Scott

Scott, thanks so much for doing that. Man oh man, those pictures are great. And I've been able to share a few with my children, especially the one of their Dad winning an award for Mr.Jigsaw. A truly special honor I will never ever forget.

Yeah, thanks, Scott.

Chuck's having internet issues today, but more pics are coming, including the ones Scott sent us.

I had an absolute blast as I said in the Road Show podcast. It was something I really needed, and it such a great time hanging with my second family!

You know, we keep joking about it, but I think we should really look into having a CR Family Reunion of sorts -- doesn't have to be a show per se, but just something that we put together for ourselves where we can hang out talk about the comics, movies and etc. we all love and what not...

Victor, amigo, honestly ...this was a CR Family Reunion. And if for one suggested they sub-label the event just next year...ala...

CHAMPION CITY COMIC CON 2011
(The Comic Related Family Reunion)

I see no need to go out and attempt to plan anything else when it was clearly evident this past weekend that this venue is PERFECT for us to go to and get together. I only wish it was even one day longer. Hint. Hint. Hint. And at the same time I truly feel sorry for our CR brothers and sisters who for whatever reason couldn't make the show. Will keep our fingers crossed for next year.

Truly an excellent time! My wife and I had an absolute blast getting to meet everyone, hang out and just enjoy the day. Having such a huge contingent of CR family there was really the rug that tied the room together. We're definitely planning to attend next year if things work out! Have a most excellent and productive year folks!

Likewise, I loved being Con Neighbors, Cary...and meeting both your lovely wife Victoria and that beautiful little guy, Logan. When time allows, now that we're all back in our respective hidden lairs, we'll start working out that Dynagirl - Jiggy meeting. Oh, yeah.

Well, I agree with both Ron and Victor. I think this con was PERFECT for us all getting together and hanging out, BUT it would also be very cool for us all to get together without the addition of selling and promoting and doing panels, etc. I know I wish I'd had more time to talk with people on Saturday.

That said, we could always do a big cookout the day after the con on Sunday or something... biggrin.gif

There you go, Brant. What I was hinting at earlier. What if the show were Fri - Sat - Sun. I.e. Friday would be ONLY be a social gathering of the guests,
not for the fans or public. Your B-B-Q sounds like the perfect venue. Wonder if Scott & Bill would be up for this. Would be so cool for all of us to just
socialize like you and Victor suggested. I mean, we could bump the Annual Disc Golf to high noon and have it done in plenty of time for the gathering.

I had a blast at the show, Scott's pictures are awesome (he like stealth shot pictures of me) tongue.gif

Hanging with Ron is always a pleasure and getting to hang with Chad/Lisa/Brant and Bill for extended periods of time is something I want to do more often.

I love you guys. cool.gif

I gotta agree with Ron, extending the show out another day or so and having a BBQ sounds WONDERFUL!

This just in.....CHAMPION CITY 2010 was a HUGE SUCCESS every way possible!!!!! Although we never really got a "surge" at the door like the beginning of last year...attendance was up!!!! Crowds looked thin at times but it appeared many people came to the show and left...and some came back and brought more people with them.

That's really the best we can ask for seeing how there is limited space at the show.

Two comic vendors in the vendor room.........sold out!!!! That's right. Every copy of every issue on the table G-O-N-E!!!!
Another vendor made 400% profit!!!

Creative guests (even the ones on the second floor....people did find them) had a great day with five guests ending the day in triple sales figures including Twilight Star (wahoooo!!!!!) and others making 500% profit!!!! (but creator tables were so cheap for a half table that they never made it into the triple sales figures...once again a couple of these were one the second floor so the few concerns I heard about the video game tournaments or being placed on the second floor hurting sales seem to be invalid...Twilight Star was also on the second floor and I hope we remain in that same spot every year if possible)

Speaking of video gaming...much more organized this year and well put together thanks to our friend Matt Pompilio from Family Video and Scott's nephew ,Chase. Chris Funk and Joe La Barre kept all the other gaming aspects of the con moving right along with no snags.

Costume contest was a huge success!!!!! Standing room only topped off with a wedding proposal!!!! Congrads to the Beal family who had such a strong presence at the contest winning three different catergories (and the judges did not know they were related in any way...Victor and Mike...you guys killed it!!! Can you do it again next year?)

The first annual Champion City Awards was very well received with every nominee walking away with a framed certificate of nomination and six creators walking away with trophies for all their hard work and creativity...one creator walking away with two!!!! (Congrads to all the winners ...Ron Fortier, Eric Adams, Andy McGinn, Cary Kelley, Scott D.M. Simmons, Dustin Carson, and Dave Arhar!!!!)

Charity auction for Josh Medors raised $886.00 in his behalf at the show and about another $81.00 at the after party show for a total of $967...improving over last year's auction (which was just what we needed last year to get Buff's headstone). Scott added extra cash to make it a even $1,000 bucks...thanks for everybody who supported this event and the Medors family.

Panel's went on through out the day...more than a few recorded in some form or another by Comic Related, U.V.N. and I.C.B.

All the other extra event (pre-con dinner, disc golf tournament, live music from Nine Volt (YOU ROCK!!!) poker tournament, after con dinner) were all a big hit and they will are be returning next year.

Champion City 2009 was a major success...Champion City 2010 blew it away just as Scott and I had hoped for.

Champion City has officially become the site for the annual "Comic Related Family Reunion" and Scott and I are already discussing adding a informal family get together, like a large cookout, some volley ball, and maybe another band at a near by park...to next year's Sunday activities...but the show itself will remain an one day show...thank goodness!!!

Champion City-An Event Like No Other.....getting better each year!!!!
