First post on Comic Related! Whee!
Just left a 15-year career in law enforcement to dedicate 100% of my time to breaking into comics professionally. Scary as hell, but I couldn't wait any more. I just *have* to try, and I have no plan "B", so...um...it has to work! *haha* I work 100% tradigitally. That is, I draw on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX and use Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS5 and SketchUp Pro 8 to make my artwork. I'm working through the Adobe "Classroom in a Book" for Illustrator, and this is more or less where I am with it right now. I'm only done with the first 1/4 of the book, so I'll post more as I learn more of what Illustrator can do for me. CRITIQUES, PLEASE--for everything I do. I just want to get better. However, please be SPECIFIC about what you like and don't like. "I just don't like it" doesn't help me much. You guys know what works and what doesn't, so let me know precisely where the issue is, and I'll avoid the same mistakes next time. This is a fake Half Life cover mock-up. Did the base sketch in Photoshop CS5, but everything you see here is a vector, drawn in Illustrator CS5 on my trusty Cintiq. Glad to be here, folks! Fred Lang

Plenty of weaknesses...but this is pretty much where I'm at right now art-wise. You can see everything I'm taking to the printer at my official online portfolio HERE. At this point, I just want the con to be over so I can get back home and draw...I have so very much to learn. Maybe I'll get lucky and some small company will take a paying chance on my stuff.
